Taillight won't shut off

jaramz
Hi
Have an electrical question concerning my 1974 Honda cb750k. My taillight won't turn off when the ignition is off. I have to unplug the taillight wire as the brown wire from the harness is always hot.
Any suggestions as to what I need to do?
Thank you for any help you can give.

I am thinking it is the brake light staying on. Check your brake lever, and pedal to see if one of them is holding the brake switch on. I would bet it is the rear doing it.

Thank you for your reply.
I also needed to know why the brown wire from the harness that the taillight plugs into is always hot.
Thanks again.

Since it is the brown wire, it is the taillight then. Has your wiring harness been modified/repaired? Here is a link to the wiring diagram. You can use it to trace the wire back to find where is is somehow making a connection to hot.
