Torn Seat

scottalx
Hi All,
I'm looking for suggestions on what to do to stop a seat from continuing to tear, and still have it look good.
I have an '82 CB750K and the stitching/seam has started to tear and now every time I ride, I swear the tear is getting bigger. I could just put some duct tape on it to hold it together, but I'm wondering if any of you have any better ideas that might look better. Thanks!

Usualy when this starts happening the seat is old and the materal is getting well I call it brittle.
I normaly just replace the seat cover with a new one.
I have not yet seen a patch kit realy work since the seat is probably going to start to tear someplace else too.

Well, these particular bikes are going on 30 years old.  I believe I have a factory seat on the Avenger, and it's just starting to tear as well.  Vinyl, even the good stuff, gives out after a while.  Mine is tearing where my legs rub against it when I'm at a stop light. The rest of the seat is just about perfect, just 2 cuts along the front bottom of the seat.
So, when I get a little extra coin, I'll take it to a good car interior shop, and have them replace the torn sections.  Should cost maybe $50-100 US. I was thinking of going to either a cover or redoing the whole seat in leather, but the replacement vinyl route may be better.
