What kind of Carb Sync tool do you recommend?

Jreed615
I am currently rebuilding/cleaning a set of carbs for my 81 750C. I need to get a set of gauges, but I don not know what is good or bad. I am looking for your experiences.

I do not recommend mercury sticks. You cant get mercury in the mail either any more, I dont think. They are jumpy and dangerous.
Either get a set of vacuum gauges or a morgan carbtune. The gauges are cheaper and do work good, the morgan is probably about the best but will run you 100 clams or more.

Youtube is a good resource for seeing how others set this up.  Most say to get a longer length of fuel line, and put the tank to the side.  As long as the petcock is higher than the inlet to the carbs, it'll work just fine.

I have also heard good things about the Morgan Carbtune.  Sometimes you see them on EBay.  Alternatively, you could find a MC garage that has one, and ask them how much they charge, or perhaps they could loan it to you for some money.  Shoot, if the price is right, it may be worth it to have them do it.  Saves time.

What I do is to get a 20oz pop bottle and a brass nipple. I drill a hole in the pop cap and put the nipple in and make sure it seals. Then I put the cap on and tighten it, cut the bottom of the bottle off and hang the bottle with the nipple down and fill it with gas. Works pretty good for short term.

This DIY synchronizing tool claims to be uber-sensitive, and uber-inexpensive (<$2 in parts).  I plan on making one myself, next Spring.  I don't see any reason it would not work.

The pop bottle tank seems like it would work just fine.  Thanks for sharing that, Re-run.  Cheers!
