Why???????

Why do people have to lie????? In the south they have a saying "would rather climb a tree to tell, you a lie, then give, you the truth flat footed on the ground." And it's true!!!! Thought I would get back on my Kawasaki KZ 750 LTD today, and get the carbs on it. I bought the carbs off a guy on craigslist, for $50.00. He was parting out a "running bike" because he did not have a title. No problem I needed the carbs. But why tell me they were in perfect working condition? I thought I would check them out before putting them on, and the first thing I noticed was the #2, and #3 float bowels were switched. Then they would not come off. They had been glued on. After I got them off I found one bowel had the brass overflow tube broken off, and plugged. Then found 3 pilot jets messed up. After that I tried to remove the sliders, and 3 were stuck. Still can't get one out. Then went to remove the fuel screws, and they were all screwed in tight with the heads buggered up. Then to top things off. The choke rod on the #3-#4 carb sticks. Guess they are parts carbs.

I never even tried to put gas in them. I would hate to waste the gas.

Re: Why???????

You know, I feel a bit strange when I sell stuff on CL:  my stuff is in great condition, or I tell it like it is (have never sold junk -- can't bring myself to do it...).  I replaced the AC on a car ($600+), last Summer, before selling it for 1/2 of BB value (sold for $1,000, worth around $2,000-$2,200) -- new owner totaled it in less than six months.

I feel strange when I sell my vehicles, as I have not sold junk yet.  My 750 is for sale, and it needs...  Nothing!  It's really nice, tires are great, no work necessary.  I must be stupid:  every used car and bike I've bought, I always budget $1,000 to get them in "safe" condition for driving/riding, and it never fails that I go through at least the planned amount (usually more).  Granted, I am particular about my vehicles, as I take care of them (typically, on a new acquisition, I plan for new tires, fluid changes all around, always a tune-up...).

I have been pleasantly surprised on e-Bay, and various vendors selling stuff through Amazon.com, though.  I know that I am not the only person selling decent quality stuff, but CL does seem to be a bit more dicey.  Sorry to hear of your carbs, Tools.  That really sucks.  Best of luck!  Cheers!

Sarge is on to something. When you sell on ebay you have to be legit. You got feedback and whatnot to worry about. On CL,who's watching?!?!  I had a '79 K20 I sold to a ''friend''. He took it out, stuck it in the mud and tore it all to pieces.Broke several driveshafts, the clutch and spun the rods out of it in a matter of months. Now I have a rep for selling a truck with one foot in the grave that I had been using to tow the car to the track for years. I only used that truck for towing and when snow was on the road. Had it for 5 years and was a good truck, now some people around here think I sell junk. It can go both ways. Thats why I always come here FIRST when I need somethingCan you tell I just discovered the bold option?
