bike wont rev past 5000prm

Is the bike charging correctly? The dohc bikes will not rev beyond 5000 rpms if the bike isn't charging properly and it's only running on battery power. Also check the timing if you haven't already

How do I go about checking if it's charging properly

Do you have a multimeter?  Connect the leads to the battery, turn the meter to dc and start the bike and rev it up. If the voltage doesn't go up over 13 volts it isn't charging

Ok so i tried that the other day if it doesn't go over 13 that's likely the alternator/generator correct

The alternator consists of 3 parts on these bikes, regulator rectifier, stator, and rotor. Have you downloaded the repair manual yet?

I have a 1981 cb900c that also wont rev past 5000 rpm under load ur standing still I've cleaned and rebuilt cars ran all new fuel lines. And now I'm stuck.
