I know we're all about 750's here but I've gotten nothing but good help here so please forgive my deviation  if you will &help me ! I'm selling my 82 650sc nitehawk to my daughters boyfriend.his first bike.I rebuilt it a few years ago-my first !!  he wants that cafe ish look-low bars, shortened rear.all I'm willing to do is put bars on--I'm NOT cutting up all my good work ! frome all my researh it looks like clipon are my only option because of the unique setup the nitehawk has-2 bars fitting into sockets, adjustable for width & height.7/8 bars.no way to put risers.I know this bike aint the one to cafe but it's what he wants.so I can mount them below the tree after some trimming  the headlite ear tube OR above it if I raise the forks 1 1/4 in.too much? how will it affect handeling ? any input is appreciated
thanx guys   Mike

First I will say that Nighthawk is really nice! And is pretty rare today. I myself would go find another bike for him to crapfe. Craigslist is full of ragedy old bikes that can be bought cheap. However if you must crapfe this one, rather then cutting up the scarcer then frog hair headlight ears to install clipons, I would look to see if there is a top bridge off a different model that will fit the bike, so that clubmans could be used. As for riding and handling, it kind of sucks, but the hipster cool factor supersedes that in all ways. However most people that are really into riding rather the hipster cool factor will install superbike bars.

I would have to agree with TOOLS. Find a more common bike and use that. Have him help you get it how he wants it.
