i am very new here as well as i work alot so my timing on coming and going may seem erratic,
after two year iwas able to finally get my 81, honda cb750 legal and now i am going to do as much self mantance as possible, after playing with it i was able to get it to stay idleing, i now need a battery any suggestion for a good one? the last one i bought i messed it by over charging it, how ever it was just a cheapie while i worked on it.
i have it lined up with a shop to get the carbs sinked, i hope that is all that i need to get it to stay running. my evental goal is to custumise it to my own specs because i plan on haveing this bike for a pretty long time, and with the help from the exprianced and pepople with more wisdom here i hope to do a lot of it my self,
so thank you all in advance,
i apologies for jacking the other mans thread i am now taking the time to start my own,
my plan this weekend is to ride it around on my street to test the brakes, they may nobe sticking now, but at this point all i have done is bleed them, i have several other quetions but i am looking to get the brakes correct and a good battery 1st,,,,
thank you all again
oh, wait one last thing, when i bought it, it already had the after market pod breathers on it. i thinking bout going back to the orginal air bok because there is a line ( i think vacum) that after it gets hot it is releasing white smoke which i think is the oil buring....is there a way to block this or should buy the orig/ airbox? also is there an upgrade (size) kit for this motor? the second is down the line but i want to look at my options
thank you

From what I've been reading here and the other site, better to run the stock box and filter.

If you don't want to change the jetting then stock is the way to go.

Welcome!
The DOHC bikes seem to be real finnicky about pods. Since there is no real huge HP gains to be had, stock does seem to be the best route. Pods are mostly just cosmtic,it seems.

well, after messing with the rear brakes, i found a small air leak in the rear master cyclinder, so i aqm going to get that priced.....is thiere a sercert on these things, the leak is in the rubber peice on the bottom of the m/c where it meets the bolt from the brake pedal, i really want to try duct tape( for the time being)_= but am also a little hesitant......
most inportatn and hope that some one here can help, when i reomve the single peice rear light assebly and use the brake break pedal , it;s good, but once i plug it bake up and press the rear brake pedal it stops dead almost like a kill switch..... i am jumping it from another battery and while hooked up it will not happen, but once running on it's own it will happen
could this be a saftey feature telling me the back breaks need work?
could it be a bad relay some where?
i did clean all the easy to get to exposed metal on it and it is still doing it, so in order to eliminate some the questions i am on my way to buy a new battery for it now.......
thank you all in advance

i am sorry for the hobble typing.....it's just that i can't hardly see the screen i will attempt to edit all further post

a rebuild kit for a master cylinder is cheap..duct tape will not work..not even for the time being..
i would try getting a new battery first..thats very strange about youre brake light/kill switch..sorry i cant help with that.

ok good news,
1) battery worked fine,
2) i must have over heated something yesterday because use of the rear brake pedal no longer acts as a kill switch...
3) some one told me for a quick fix i could use silicone to stop air from coming into the rear master syclinder.
4) i finally got it to idle now all i need is to get the carbs synched, and i just jetted to meet the demands of the pods, i am torn between going back to the air box and keeping the pods, how ever the pods are already there and cash flow is slow, so i plan on using what i have already got to work with..
ultimitly i need rear brakes and carbs synched

OMG
this is dated June 2012,
I still remember that hate full screen. And my horrible typing. But I have come a long way since then. And hope my communication has also. I do thank you all for your patients with me. I had forgot all about this post.
Now on to the question. I again have been having rear brake problems. ( the carbs are still not right but on the back burner for now)
Is it normal to have a lil brake fluid in the boot?
If no then I have two things wrong. and if yes then I only put the boot on wrong. I bled the brakes and they were fine. I was going to do a quick birthday ride tomorrow. SO charged the battery. checked the gas, I started it to make sure it would start. A ride around the block. When I lost all rear brake power. The hose was still full. and the caliper was too.
While moving the brake pedal with my hand I heard air coming from some where. When I used my hand to find the air leak I also found b/f coming ever so slightly out of the boot. I called my buddy and he explained I had the boot on wrong. But was unsure if there should be brake fluid in it.
thanks again

The dust boot is just there for a little extra protection from the elements. It's not expected to hold brake fluid or perform as part of the system. Sounds like you just need to rebuild your master cylinder with a new seal kit. But your will be an easy one since your MC is already working and not frozen. Good luck!

any ideas on how to remove a rusted bleeder? with out hurting anything. it will not move I have spent two days on it.... is it safe to tap and dye out?

I would tap on the top of it a few times with a hammer, then use a good 6 point socket on it. If that does not get it, try heating it.
