my 75 super sport

I got this a few years back from a guy I worked with. Didn't run when I bought it due to a clogged fuel line. Ran ok even thought the head gasket was blown and need the carbs rebuilt. Last year I lost the place where I was storing it so it sat outside at my dads over winter and now the motor is stuck. My plan is to tear it down completely and restore it. The PO didnt like the color so he started stripping the tank. I had the blue paint from a prior project and painted it real quick to keep it from rusting.

Thanks but I already have a brand new one for it. What I really need is the front head light assembly, front turn signals and the left side cover. Possibly the plastic piece behind the seat.

I have one of those rear cowls if you are still looking for one. Yellow is BOLD ! It would look great yellow.

What do you want for the cowl. I still havent had a chance to get a buddy to look at mine and see if its fixable. (someone did a lousy repair job.)


Also looking for where I can get the spokes for the rear wheel. I know that they are 8x147.5 and 8x147. But I cant find a complete kit for them.

Its going to be awhile til its done. I'm still hunting down the missing parts or the parts I'm going to have to replace that don't meet my standards.

Plus everything is sorta on hold until I get the other bike sold. Its going to fund a lot of the parts I need.

Thaks for the link to that guys ebay ad. The only parts he has that interest me are the storage box and head light bucket.


Any chance you got a pic of the front end before you took it apart. I'm trying to figure out how the front is suppose to look like. My head light and front turn signals are missing as well as some other parts Im not sure of.

Got the carbs soaking in cider vinegar for the moment. Im going to replace everyting but the housings. They are so gummed up its not even funny. What carb kit should I use? I'm wanting to find a rebuild kit with 10:1 jets.

You most likely won't need a carb kit. As long as you are able to remove all of the jets and such without hurting them all the parts can be cleaned and reused. If you happen to break a jet or something someone on here probably has some spare parts.Really no reason to buy the whole kits. Waaay expensive!

Check that your floats are ok.
-Brass-put them in a bowl of water,submerge them and check for bubbles to check for leaks
-Plastic-checks for cracks.

You'll need to get float bowl gaskets at the least. VintageCB750.com sells them for $5 each. They also sell the floats if you need one ...or more.

 I'm sure I could reuse some of the parts but I'm wanting all new. I had planned this from when I first pulled the carbs off the bike. Expensive but worth the peace of mind for me.

True.But brass jets dont wear out. Maybe if you ran a bike for millions of miles you might errode one a bit,but then it would only run fractionally rich. The only wear itemsare the slides and the carb bodies themselves. If you have real bad slides that stick you might need replacements or have the nickel plating redone. Pretty sure you can buy them new. Most all slides will polish out in useable shape unless they are heavily pitted. All the brass parts are permanent.

Since I couldn't find a replacement wiring harness. I checked the entire harness out. Only found one bad wire. The right rear turn signal positive wire had rubbed part of the insulation off.

Wo, funky! Reminds me what my carbs first looked like   If you have varnish plugging up everything, I guarantee if you soak them in Chem Dip for a week they will be varnish free.  Mine were completely plugged.

Sorry for so long for the update but I've been really busy.

My Uncle got the carbs cleaned up really nice. However he was unable to get the motor unstuck. The only way to get it unstuck now is to pull the motor and try and tear it apart for a complete rebuild. Unfortunatly with his age he doesn't want to get that involved. He also said I'd be better off finding another project even though he knows that its a numbers matching bike.

However I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet on this bike. With that is there anyone close to Cleveland, Oh that knows how to rebuild the motor? My knowledge of bikes is very limited and I don't trust myself enough to attempt the rebuild on my own.

In all honesty,these are very,very simple engines. I don't know what tools you own,but I am confident that amyone with even decent mechanical knowledge could teardown and reassemble on of these engines. You may have to buy a couple tools. And if it's stuck you may most likely have to have the jugs bored,but otherwise it is all simple hand tools.

I am 100% confident that you could handle the job.

If you hit a snag come back and ask what's up and I'm sure someone here can walk you through it.I'm positive of that.

I've been working on cars most of my life. Motorcycles are a bit foreign to me. I'd like to have someone there who has done it before to give tips and pointers as problems my arise.

Also I really don't have any where at the moment to work on it.
