Ive been going off K6 from the start ,I mention that 1st thing ,I hate Electrical too,but has to be done and cost way to much to have some one else do it,You can't switch back and forth unless you know what engine ,harness ,frame, then you take all 3 diagrams(paper)and take out what is not needed,Hoping you have more wires then you need, have done that to cars
...........K1 trhu K5 (70 to75) are the same......
THERE IS NO BLK. N RED WIRE on these years that I see
still for headlight fuse block to headlight dimmer switchwith a connection,BUTTT the red n brn go totaly different then red. n blk.as I said (red n Blk.) it went straight to starter switch...
by the way I'm Piute and Jodose Is my dog..hang in there trying to make this easy as possible for us both
I'm learning to,this is the only way I can remember ,by doing over N over.

I just spent a couple days rewiring my buddies bike. He wanted it to have all the stock switches, and idiot lights... I will never wire one back to original again. Honda went with overkill on the wiring.

Colors dont bother me. im half color blind anyways,if i look at two things for long enough they turn the same color....sucks when you do control wiring for a living,At least i know how thing hook up regardless of color
|
|
most of the wiring is color coded so its easy. for some reason, the headlight wont work when hooked up according to the diagram. the harness and switches i have all should be from the k6. how ever....i have all those split ground and hots that dont match up to the diagram, they look more like the k3-7 diagram found on this site.
really i am down to the headlight and turn signals and brake lights(the brake lights may be the stop switches themselves, so i am not going to worry about that for now as the taillight is at least on)
by the way...do the signals stay on as running lights?
|
|
for some reason i am not getting any power to the light when i go by the diagram.
i ran the ground(green) white wire to low beam, blue wire to high beam an nothing
i can run the white or blue to hot and it lights up(but obviously i have no hi/low)

Maybe this will help, you out. You, must not be getting power to the switch.

i i have tested the brown and white going into the switch and it has power going in. i have even swapped out the switches....but for some reason it wont power the lights.
i know i am missing the turn signal buzzer and horn. do both of these need to be plugged in to complete the circuit by any chance?

No they don't, but, you should have a black wire going to the switches.

no black wire on the left switch
i have a black on the right....the right switch is working fine

Lunch time just wishing, O.K.were are you ?
......... it looks like the solid brown and the black/red wires are accounted for according to Piute n Judose ............................................................................................................................................
Now when I said were these wires went that was from """" K 6 """"wire diagram if you take a look at it
it goes derectly to the starter switch from the back of the connector at the fuse block
(at)in and out of the fuse box is red & brn ..
So I believe this is were the problem is ,
IF YOU were to look at thee other K model wiring diagram there totaly different. There is no blk & red wire
???????????? Did or has the starter switch been changed and if so to what yr. ?????????????????

the harness and both handle switches and ignition switch are all supposedly from a k6. but the k6 diagram does not have all the splits that my harness actually has. if you go by that the k3-7 diagram looks more like what i have..however, if you look at some of the colors....my harness looks more like the k6 diagram
i may have goofed. i have a brn/blue wire open and that should be for the buzzer. i have a solid brown wire open as well and i dont know where that goes.
all the wires from the left switch are plugged in to their matching wire frm the harness. i know there is power going into the switch, but i am not getting power coming out to the headlight or signals.
the right switch(on/off and start button work just fine)
the ignition key works as it should.

The brown wire should be, for the taillight. Maybe the Hi-Lo switch is bad? I have several controls laying around with bad switches. I wish I could find a company to make new switches, for the controls. They are not hard to replace. I could make a fortune rebuilding them.
