hey i just got this bike and i wanted to ride to cross country soon. I am lookin for a windshield, a tachometer(the gauge lights dont work on tach or speedo but the speedo is good), and some tips for tuning it up(ignition upgrades, carb cleanin)Also is was wanting to change the sprockets to 18front and 38rear for interstate riding. Any links or advice is welcome!

hi, im changing my sprockets to 18/38 cause im turning too much rpm for the speed im going, stock for me is 18/46, way too much rpm, i know these bikes like the high rpm but i want to have the bike around for a few years also, i then went to 18/43, not bad but still tooooo much rpm, im now waiting for 38 rear sprocket, see how that works for me,,,mikey 440

Well a windshield is not too hard. you will most likely have to get a universal though. At least those you can usually take off/put on in under 5 minutes. Just sit on your bike and have someone measure how high you sit in the saddle and then measure from the height at the bars. That should give you an idea how high a screen you need. Now it doesnt have to come to the top of your head I dont think, but about halfways up your face or so. I am not an expert though so maybe someone here who has fitted a screen will give more info.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Valve adjustment - valve adjustment valve adjustment !!! -- Did I say valve adjustment ?? -- Should be the first thing you do or have done .  -- I too have an 81 C , with one of those lexan mini windshields that simply mounts to the handlebars . -- It works great , and I'm 6'8" tall . -- Welcome to the game my good man , and please enjoy the ride .
