Hey all, im goin to a smaller rear sprocket once a gain, started at stock of 18/46, way too much rpm for not enough speed, dropped rear sprocket to a 43 tooth, im finding im still pullin too much rpm, ive decided to well i already ordered a jt 38 tooth sprocket for rear, so i will have 18/38, does anyone have this combination on there bike and are you happy with it? any info much obliged, thanks, mikey 440

Wow that is a low ratio. The stock is 2.55, the set up you are going with is 2.11 so quite a drop. Your take-off will be slower but you should have excellent cruising!
One thing to keep in mind, not bad at least, a 1 tooth drop or raise on the front sprocket is worth about a 3 tooth drop/raise on the rear.
One note, keep an eye on your gas mileage. On the sohc bikes, on a couple years they put on 18 tooth front sprockets and the engine ended up getting crappy mileage, a switch to a 17 cured it. just something to watch for.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

hey re-run, 18 tooth is the biggest i can put on the front, if i find that i dont like the 38 rear ill probably just drop to a 17 in front and go from there, thanks for your input sir, mikey440

Well a 17 would raise the rpms back up.
See how it works is if you want to lower rpm, you raise the front or drop the back.
If you want to raise rpm, then it is opposite.

if the rpm,s are too low now with the new rear 38 then i will drop the front 1 tooth to 17 to bring rpm,s back up a little, just have to wait and see, sprocket is supposed to come in today, ill keep ya posted,,have great day, mikey440

hey gang, well i installed the 38 tooth rear sprocket this morning, had to take out 2 links on the chain,
went for a ride and i love it, its like having a 6th gear, cruising at 65 mph at 4000 rpm,
4th gear is like 5th used to be, i am pleased and will keep this combo of 18/38, we will see how the gas mileage is, ok gang keep the rubber side down, lata, mikey440
