tires & bars

the tires on my 78 K have been sitting for over 20 yrs.they look new,no cracks but my mechanic says get new onesanyone have any particular favorites for this bike(750)? also am thinking of different bars,my buddies 81 cb900 has a more swept back design
that looks more comfortable.will they do?any ideas?

I have Dunlop 404s on two of my CB 750s, and love them. As for comfortable handle bars, believe it or not, but Ape Hangers are the most comfortable bars ever. However bars are a personal choice, so pick what you like.

Wow, those tires are only fit for burning! I put on shinko 712s and have been quite happy with them. They are korean made(not chinese) from yokohama molds. A pair is just over $100. 130/90-17 rear and 110/90-19 front.

I really like my stock bars, they feel made for me. Ride with them a bit and see how it goes. There are flatter bars, more pullback, higher, all sorts of bars.

Tools mentioned apes, some people do not like apes cause their arms fall asleep!

Best thing to do is find bikes that sit similar and have different bars and see how it feels.

The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Agreed! Just wanted to reinforce Rerun's words. Seriously, old tires are just not safe. Twenty year old tires are completely out of the question.

I've had great success with Shinko's as well. The 404's Tools mentioned did OK for me too,but they are a mileage tire and don't exactly grip real great. I skated several times on mine. But, 3k miles on those tires didn't wear them down one bit. It's all in what you want to do with your bike. I like knowing a tire will grip well enough in the event I have to swerve hard to avoid an accident.
