I cant seem to find a valve cover gasket for my 78 cb750k. Would it be alright if I used something like Honda-Bond to seal this??

I have never tried it on one, but I do not know why it would not work.

Tell you the truth, if I found rubber that handled the heat, I would make a valve cover out of that I think.

I have used this gasket from CycleX   http://www.cyclexchange.net/CoolPix%20Honda%20Gaskets%20Roxi%20007.jpg   Part# ENG-008  It costs 39.00 BUT it is steel with a foam type coating on both sides. It does a good job of compensating for nicks and scratches on the head and cover sealing surfaces. Same type of gasket that Harley uses.

Honda bond says its only good up to 300 degrees, not sure it that would cut it.

DO NOT use HondaBond to seal the valve cover. It is pointless. They make gaskets for this surface.

Some folks have posted, either on this forum, or another, that the head of their CB750 (CB900?) clocked in at, or above, 300 F, using an IR Thermometer!  This was when their bike was at operating temperature.  Meanwhile, the oil, in the pan, was at 250 F.  I agree, use a gasket -- they are still made, so why risk it?  Cheers!
