Aren't there pieces that need to be plated attached to the carbs?

Do you know if the solution will eat or otherwise destroy the aluminum? Or just do the springs etc?

Mailman hasn't come yet today, so I'm hoping yet that he does. Meanwhile, I'm going to go get some lunch now and then get back to working/cleaning/waiting on my bike.

In other news, I think I'm now able to afford my Integra project a bit more. Will know in about 2, 3 weeks. Meanwhile:

http://www.evans-tuning.com/engines/b-series/stage-2

I'll drive the motor out to PA, wait 4-6 weeks while I get back to doing stuff on the Integra, then drop the motor and trans in once it's received and go get it tuned in Chicago. It just may be back on the road this season yet...

If not, then next spring for sure. Shiney, you're in PA right? How far are you from Mt. Bethel?
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

Long time no talk Nabble!

I've been way too busy. Why does life have to get in the way.  Somewhere between learning to fly (8 hours so far!), school (2nd Bachelor's degree), and working way too much, Christmas and such lately, and weekly chiropractic visits something had to give. It probably didn't help that I've been scared to redo my carbs. And doing the electroplating.

But, alas, I've gotten over my fear! I'm working on things once more, and hoping to get to ride the 750 this year. Perhaps to a couple lessons?

No post goes without a picture!

I'm working now on cleaning stuff, electroplating stuff, organizing stuff, figuring out what I've got, and once things are cleaned, plated, and ready then rebuilding.

Hopefully this time I don't stay away for so long... forgive me?

I just plate the carb plates and the various steel parts right? The aluminum various things don't get plated? What about the smaller tubes made of steel (not the fuel supply brass tubes).

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

The pieces I've been pulling out so far have had grey junk that I've been polishing out. Will this cause a problem on springs and/or fuel-related components? Any chance the plating will gunk up say the small holes in the jets? Or isn't it really a big deal, just run the e-string through the small holes and gasoline will later clean up anything remaining?

Next piece I do I'll show a before/after of what I'm talking about. Just finished the throttle plates though.

Okay. Not doing jets.

Springs and fuel and those tubes with super-small passage holes for the accelerator pieces though get done?

I'm about to say screw it and throw up a picture of what's getting done yet. Got a piece getting done now though.

Okay. So I just realized my floats appear to be missing. Going to have a look-see out in the garage tomorrow.

Other than that, here's what I've got thus far for plating.

To do:

At the top you can see the air cutoff tubes I'm talking about. But I have noticed that the grey stuff doesn't stick to the other tubes (other picture, below) so I don't think it's a problem. Realistically it's probably stainless steel, and the kit says it doesn't work on stainless steel. Also, I have new bolts for these carbs so I'm not doing any screw hardware.

Finished:

An 18'' long ratchet and a bench grinder... I'd be scared to have you redo my carbs, too.

Glad to see you're doing OK. Good luck on the flying thing. That's just too cool.

That's there to change out the wheels on the bench grinder. Some pieces had rust on them so I've been wire-brushing it off and buffing out the aluminum as well. Looks much better.

I mean, I could just hack it together, like I did last time, but that didn't get me much further than Texas...
