Okay. So, he said that the likely reason the carbs disintegrated was high ethanol content or stale gas. He ended up cutting me a decent deal on a replacement rebuild kit, so I'm going with that.

Now I need to find pilot jet screws, and a single emulsion tube since I seem to have one that grew legs...

The carbs got sent today, but won't ship until tomorrow. I had to work on an emergency that could have been OVERLY simple, but guy had bad info causing me to spend an extra ONE POINT FIVE HOURS on it. Yay overtime, boo missing last ship date for UPS.

At least it'll arrive at TOOLS on Friday.

You spelt commas wrong.

I'm glad you're not in a coma though!

As for my carbs not being back until December, that's fine. It's too hot to ride anyways. I wonder if a bike ever came out with air conditioning.

Probably a Goldwing or other old man bike.

TOOLS, it appears the package went out yesterday after all. The lady at Staples had a 3-year pin, and obviously didn't know they could do an 8 pm pick-up.

Fort Wayne, IN, United States 06/18/2013 12:17 P.M. Departure Scan

06/17/2013 8:28 P.M. Origin Scan
06/17/2013 8:01 P.M. Pickup Scan

It's left Ft. Wayne and headed for you. I'd say expect 'em Thursday instead of Friday!

Got shipped notification that my carb rebuild kit is also on its way. Should be here this week. So gotta finish up some stuff for the bike (still gotta clean that chain ) and clean up the battery case then I'm just waiting to get the carbs back.

Oh yeah. Also want to track down pilot jet springs for the kit. I will double check but 90% sure the Randakk kit didn't come with them last time.

They don't seem to have an online catalog. I suppose I can d/l their catalog and then call them...

I'm not used to this style of ordering stuff.

Thanks for the site!

If they don't have 'em, anyone wanna go in with me on a carb set from vintagecb750.com? They have what I need, as a kit with a full rebuild kit.

Hmm. Not seeing any parts for the Keihin CV carbs. And apparently it's the mixture screw spring that I need. 4 of 'em since the 3 I have are probably pretty toast. I think they've lost their spring, and no longer really do their job.

On to the next source. Maybe I'll just give 'em a ring later.

package arrived yesterday man those things are nasty looks like some sort of acid got on them and removed all the protective coating on the carbs the carbs themselves actually have a paint type coating on them that acid or media blasting will remove then all the anodizing is gone off the steel parts you need to get an anodizing kit from eastwoods and anodize these parts when i send them back

Oh man. Glad I've got the right man for the job on 'em then! I thought it was just some clear coat or something that was coming off.

So does the aluminum have to get taped off, or anodized too? What all needs to be done? What needs to be taped off, kept free of anodizing, etc?

Basically, can you make it so easy a Geico customer can do it? You know, the cavemen living under rocks?

Could someone point me to the anodizing kit I need? The one on Eastman is only a look-alike spray paint solution. I just want to make sure I get the right crap. I now have plans for this weekend, pending return of my carbs...

Who knows what I need to do!!!! I want to get stuff ordered tonight or early tomorrow.

I'm betting it's this, but it does nothing for aluminum. And what all is steel on the carbs?

Aluminum does not need it, and anything a magnet will stick to.
That is the kit you need.

Can I dip the entire carb in? And it'll just stick to what needs it? Or it will need some taping off and stuff?

Also, should I get this or anything else for the aluminum? Or just allow it to be itself?

I would just spray it on the outside of the carbs after they are back together.
Also. Are either of these the emulsion tube you need? And what are you referring to as "pilot jet screws?"

Yes, that appears to be the emulsion tube I need. I put 3 in the box, so you should be able to match them to the ones I sent.

Pilot jet screws - those are what controls the idle a/f mix.

In other news, that Eastwood store is now pissing me off.

Seriously, whatever happened to customer service? If you offer 10% off for new customers, and you also offer free shipping, don't just give the customer the $8 savings and make him spend $14 on shipping. Then, when you don't say that you only get 1 or the other, say that you do in e-mail.

Sigh. Another company I won't likely be using in the future.
