81 cb750 custom "purple rain tear down"

easyrider12
Hi guys, first timer here.  I've spent the last 5 years travelling on this bike with no problems other than having to stop for a few tires, oil changes, and one one new chain.  With a new bike on the way next spring, its time to swing into winter project mode(notice the leaves on the ground)  and have a little fun and tear this one down and rebuild it.  I'll probably spend more $ here than  on the other.  cheers.  easyrider.

I've taken the bags and rack off and plan on making a custom solo seat.  The fairing is coming off as well, but i have to figure out the spider's web of wiring first.  I have a working stereo which i'll maybe put somewhere else on the bike. ;)

Went for a ride down river this morning.  Came across a nearly identical bike along the way.  Tempted to buy this one for about $1000, but which one would be the parts bike?

Finally got after some wiring on the bike today.  I fixed the rear signals but knocked out the tail light in the process so i'll have to look that over tomorrow.  Pulled the wiring back through the fairing and sorted out what i could.  There has been a bit of creative wiring there between fog lights, switches, and stereo equipment.  I let go a few brackets but ran out of daylight and maybe ran out of talent.  back at it tomorrow to finish up.  Just a backyard mechanic

The good news is, it's a Hondaline fairing... imagine if some jack-wagon had chopped up the harness to put a Vetter on like my GL was!

Red sky at night....biker's delight.   Mild temps coming for a few days, I think i'm going to shovel out the bike in the morning and resurrect the bike project.  Might make a run at the frozen nipple trophy or sit back and win the slowest project award. lol.  stay tuned

I don't know what is worse....the cb750 bug, insomnia, or cabin fever but I think I cured all three today.  I got the bike going and went out around town for a ride, stopped at the beer store and made it home by 5pm happy hour
My computer was down for a couple of weeks so I spent last night catching up on some builds/bikes, sure had a few LOL's OMG's and even a WTF motogrady gnome thread?? haha.  Maybe tomorrow I can get at the bike, I've started a list of goods to order from vintagecb750.....
