DAMN! a 9" rear end and a set of Camel-back heads... Dude, wish I would have known you when I had this!
How many of each do you need? Dude, back when I was heavy in to cars I practically lived in the junk yards on weekends. I was pro level. Tools that stayed in the truck, wheel barrow, jacks, crane and everything. lol. I have tons of stuff laying around here. Honestly, I probably have enough spare parts to build at least 4 running, driving vehicles. Even a couple 4wd's. I was a haggling master!

Shultz! You got you a C10?!?! That's awesome! PIIIIIIIICS!!!!!!

For Easyrider (i might toss up some pics later)

Work on this thing has been slow. Surprise,surprise...it needed more than expected. I've rebuilt the front wheel cylinders and replaced the hoses. Having a bit of trouble getting a rear brake hose for the car. Nobody local stocks them and the 3 that were ordered had the wrong ends. C'mon,it's a Chevy!

Found out the exhaust leaks were actually rusted out headers That set me back $120. More if I have to have tail pipes ran. Don't know yet.

Ran the engine numbers and found out it actually is a 350 hp Vette engine.  Number 6 plug had a scary amount of oil on it. Fingers crossed it's just from sitting/leaking by a valve guide.Pretty sure the rings are OK. I let it sit and idle for an hour in 95* heat and it never got over 200*. Adjusted the valves and they were all off. Some loose, some tight, none even close. I'll never understand why people have a hard time adjusting hydraulic lifters.

Checked under the distributor cap and found out the rotor button wasn't even bolted down! lol. No clue how it was running, but tightening that fixed the rough idle issue.

What else???....oh,the windows were duct taped to the regulators! They worked perfectly until one day I rolled the crank down the window stayed up! Seems the glass channels had rusted themselves loose from the regulators and that was someones cure. Gotta figure out how to get all that aligned and welded back together. Replacements would run me over $300.

Trans is puking relentlessly ever since I had it running. Dry seals ripped from actually being used again. I'm debating whether to seal the TH350 that's in there now (it's perfectly good, just leaky) or rebuild a 700R4 I have a kit for and rock an overdrive. Would need to fab a crossmember(easy-just gotta move a tab back a bit) and shorten the driveshaft to do that(cost $100). Might be a winter project.

This car is doing what I call ''pouting''. Take a perfectly good car, park it for a long time and start it up. At first, everything seems fine...but after a couple days problems start popping up. Gotta show 'em some love. Ignore them and it hurts their feeling and they pout.

Buuuut,it's getting there. I work on this when I get in. Once I'm tired of laying on a creeper I work on Hackjob.Of course you also have real life (work) and play time(gotta catch your breath)and then I have to babysit Crys all while trying to get my chores done around the house. Man, I wish I could retire so I had time to get stuff done! One day really should be about 40 hours long. I could get a lot done like that!

"for easyrider", lol, thanks for the shout out wing man.   I went back to work today after a two week break.  We broke the record for rainfall halfway through the month.  The bike still started right up.  A co-worker has an in-line (4) 1100 (yamaha I think), neat job on the bike, I wish I had my cam, maybe I can grab a snapshot tomorrow to share.   cheers-m

Here we go.

Brother said it look like it as a 307 in it. I say it runs.

I have a 79 350 4 bolt main setting here that is begging to get a mild build mated with a small stall and nice exhaust.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

Thanks Shiny

Brother made the mistake of building a motor and running stock converter once. Scary Had to stand on the brake at a stop and the car would lurch forward and act like it was going to stall. Then lurch forward again and act like it was going to stall. so on and so on LOL  Ran good though.

Not as had to get parts for as your elk but not as rare either.

Let me know when to 40hr days start. To so much to do and so little time.

Wow. Nearly 2 months and this car is not on the road yet. I'm so lazy...

I did jump on this thing tonight and got some work done. So far all 3 wheel cylinders are rebuilt. All new hardware/spring kits for the brakes on all four corners. New brake hoses up front. I've yet to get a the rear brake hose off to replace it. It's being stubborn.  I had to replace the right rear brake line. That line has always been frozen on every older vehicle I've ever done.

And this ,friends, is why you ALWAYS rebuild the brake systems on old cars.

The exhaust system is poo. Dents where it was crashing in to the rearend housings and lots of rusted out areas. Even the flange where it meets the header collectors is rotten off. Never park a car on grass! This is what happens to it when the grass grows high enough to touch metal. Either that,or just from the grass clippings getting thrown on it when you mow.Hard to believe, but true!

Bye bye

I am going to take a wild guess, and say the one that says "Spicer" on it.

Alright, I fully understand that this is NOT an auto forum, but you gotta see this. The amount of grass/grease combo under this car is just sad. I hate PO's. Why do they always have to destroy everything?!?!

There's a tranny crossmember under there

Ugh. Just...ugh.

Why don't people understand that leaks cause more problems then just an occasional drip? Rubber mount (petroleum product) bathed in tranny fluid ( petroleum product) = dissolved rubber.

For reference, this is what a tranny mount is S'POSED to look like!

All cleaned up,new seals, pan gasket and filter. Now I can weld up a new exhaust system without fear of setting the tranny ablaze!

OK, I'll quit with the car pics and bellyaching. I just hate to see old iron neglected.

I come a cross stupid stuff All the time. On this truck I got I was hearing some thing banging under it. Turns out I did not notice the tail pipe are true straight pipe or was.  Every time you hit a good bump the rear end would hit them.  By by tail pips.  Just running glass packs now.
