CARB swap options

norzilla
Hi All

Can you tell me what carb swaps are possible on a 1980 CB750 FA, currently it has Keihin CV, but they are really hard to tune the idle when running pod filters and open 4-4 exhaust.  What are the alternatives? maybe off other models/years?

Cheers
John

They did not want you to be able to tune those carbs. Those are the type 3 EPa carbs.
You need to go the the DOHC forums to get your solution from those that have already done it.

I am not positive on this, but I believe the spacing of the intake ports on the DOHC bikes are different than the spacing on the SOHC bikes. If that is what you were asking. If you can adjust the spacing of the carbs to line then you also need to find out if the carb boot diameters are the same between the SOHC's & DOHC's. I am not sure if there is a difference there or not. Hopefully one of the DOHC guys will chime in here soon and help you out.

BTW,you bike is gorgeous! I love your tank. What is it? Beautiful bike, really! There are very few DOHC Cafe's/brats (sorry if I misinterpreted what you were shooting for) as nice as yours. If any! I Love it!
