Hello gents and ladies.
I'm taking on a project of converting a '74 CB 750 from a chopper to a cafe' racer. The frame was not cut, just extended forks put on. My problem is, I don't know how to tell if I have a K model, or the SS. Also, I was told that I can go 2 inches under stock. Would this help in handling? I guessing it would. My most pressing issue is whether or not I have a Super Sport or a K model. As I understand it, the difference is a valve at the end of the forks. Any suggestions?
Thanks, C_D

There is no difference between the two. How much over are your tubes now? Do you want a stock set, and are you wanting to get rid of your over length tubes?

HELLO I just signed up on here, and I am building a Honda 550 chopper...and I am puttin extended fork tubes on it...what I was hoping to do was get a set of used ones from ebay or somewhere...I am finding some 750 tubes...and I was wondering: would those fit on my 550?

Welcome to the forum. Yes the 750 forks will fit the 500-550's. How much over do, you want? i just removed a very nice set of 6 inch over forks from my buddy's bike. He might be willing to part with them.

HEY, great I was wondering if the 750 tubes would work...I am looking at maybe 6 or 8 inches, I found a website that sells ALUMINUM TRIPLE TREES,in any rake theres this website that sells front end chopper kits tubes and trees combined...I think they have to make the ones for my 550 but they have some for 750s right now I don't have the money, I lost my job and am looking for another one, and if it wasn't for my wife getting social security we'd be in the homeless shelter. MY son is also building a chopper out of a CM400 he had GIVEN to him...it needs alot of work so he decided to make it into a chopper also..he is REALLY on a tight budget, he has three little children all in diapers...and he works a 20 hour a week job...He is wanting to put apes on it and tubes also...he wants to know what other fork tubes will fit his bike, he wasw thinking if he just found a set from some motocross bike that had some extra length you know? what would your friend b wanting for those tubes

Your story sounds very familiar. Times today are just tough. I would have to ask him tomorrow about the forks. The 550, and the 750 use the same forks, but the 550 tubes are 2 inches shorter, and are highly sought after by the Cafe racer guys. Your son ought to try to find a set of forks from a later model DOHC CB 750. The K model forks are 2 inches longer then the SOHC CB 750 forks, and the C model's are 4 inches longer. The dirt bike forks just look too Buck Rogers on a street bike, for me. He should check out Toolbabes Bobber here in the build section. Its a very low budget build.

The fork tubes are 35mm. I can measure lengths later.
