Centerstand or jack?

BooTheRedneck
I just purchased a 1980 750k and the centerstand has been removed.  In your opinions, do I need the centerstand, or would I be better off buying a motorcycle lift/jack?  If a centerstand is desirable, does anyone have one that they would be willing to part with?  Also, where would be a good place to start looking for a backrest.  The bike had one orginally.

Sorry to be asking so many questions in one post.

Thanks,

Boo.

Both a center stand and a jack are handy. I believe all bikes should have a center stand. They make it easy do the most common maintenance , tire pressure, lubing the chain and washing the bike.I also like to park the bike on the stand, it is just my prefference. I also like the lift to do work on the bike ,just to get it up off the ground (I'm not as young as I used to be),but it is just a little less convenient to do the quick stuff.I believe that the centerstands from all the 79 -83 750s and 900f and 1100f are interchangeable so finding one should be easy.

you see center stands on ebay all the time. if you can't find one specifically for the K, will the F or Custom stand work? do you know what they look like?
most universal motorcycle jacks tend to interfere with the exhausts on inline 4 bikes, but you can rig up a platform out of wood blocks to get around this, as long as you can make the bike stable while on the jack.

don't forget the best reason to have a center stand, in case you get a flat tire out on the road someplace
