Exhaust Question

halfwing
Will an exhaust system from a 1979 cb750L fit on a 1981 cd750c. They look an awful lot alike but part numbers are different? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Well when looking online for exhaust, the same exhaust part works for 79 and 81 for vance and hines. I would guess honda just changed the part number or the muffler. The mounting and spacing should be the same.

Thanks for the answer. When I looked in the OEM drawings, I thought they looked
a little different. It doesn't surprise me that they would use 2 different part
numbers tho.

Thanks again,

Dave

i'm still relatively new to CB750's but, i wouldn't be sure that they would fit.. there are several models of the bike and not all of them use the same stuff...  the dude mentioned vance and hines...

damned good exhaust systems but expensive....

i would call vance and hines directly and ask them about fitment though..

Leo Vince may also have something for it... if not, try brocks....

those are pretty much the best that i know of..

most all of them are typically made to order though and it's fairly difficult to find someone who stocks them and can ship out the next day....

either way, whichever you decide to go with, call the manufacturer directly and ask about the fitment...  those places do not like to accept returns and typically charge a 20% restocking fee...  that sucks on a 1000$ pipe...

on that note, if you find a part number for the one you need contact me and i can get you a deal on them.. (i'm a dealer for all 3 but we don't stock them).. no... not trying to advertise, just help the community...

Thanks for the feedback. I do want to replace the exhaust with stock pipes but will have to wait and see the availability.

Thanks again

4-1's are universal across these DOHC's.  That being said the K and C exhaust should be the same, but not 100% sure about all the mount points.

MAC's 4 into 1 are currently on back order, but they should be getting some made in about 4 weeks.. they are by far the most affordable pipes.....  if you're looking for bang for your buck pipes, those are the ones you want... their great, they fit, their hand made, and.. their cheap...

fyi, you're not going to find stock replacement pipes brand new... they've been discontinued years ago.. if you're doing a restore, you'll have to find used ones in better shape than what you have, or have yours re-chromed and re-purposed....   anything else you buy aftermarket is going to give you some kind of performance gain...  either a little or a lot.. depends upon the pipe... and by "a lot" i don't mean a 50% increase .. i mean just enough of an increase to -have- to re-jet your carbs..

that's a question i have... does anyone know where to find a jet kit? not trying to thread jack... i do think it's pertinent info given the subject...

In 95+% cases no need to rejet the DOHC CV carbs when fitting a 4-1.  Just continue to run the airbox, and paper filter.

4-1's show up for these on ebay all the time....As do stock exhausts.
