Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?
Shiny: [...] Considering the weather you've had to put up with I'd say you get an Iron Butt award and a Frozen Nipple trophy to go along with it. First time I've ever posted the word nipple... it ends here.

That looks like a plan...

Yikes! I wouldn't push such speeds even on my Maxima! Also, I figure the CB750 is not a sports bike so it's not going to handle as tightly at really high speeds. Finally, I wouldn't put that much stress on such an old bike as I have.
Just sayin'..

I agree, just sometimes so tempting to open up....

Thorby, common sense goes out the window when speed is involved Hmm, I've been wanting a higher speedo so I can see how fast my baby will go. I'll have to give the smartphone thing a shot!

If you have a smartphone and can ride one-handed, use a program called Trapster to track your speed.
Just checked out trapster. MUAHAHAHA

They also have (or had; haven't looked recently) it set up so if someone else saw a cop and reported it, it would push the notification to all cars in a certain radius, plus if you came up to it it'd alert you.
Why do I feel this is dangerous to discuss in a high speed thread?

Lol... how are the traffic cops over there? Here in my province they pretty chilled.... meaning I don't see them very often and they always in the same spots, I've gone past them going well over the speed limit, but not crazy fast and they did nothing... It's like they give us bikers some space to speed so we can get out the traffic or some thing... Other provinces they a bit more strict tho... When we do hear of a biker being fined it's cuz he was doing like over 200km/h(124.27mph) where the speed limit is 120km/h(74.56mph)
they focus more on cars here...

Dang trapster wont download :(
It seems suspicious to me that it is called TRAPster. Am I gonna be broadcasting my high speed antics to the local police???
If some people do not feel comfortable going past 80-90 mph that is perfectly fine in my book. I got no problem with that. I am also not trying to convince others into flying down the road at a high rate of speed. Its not safe.I wouldn't dare do it around another vehicle.I am only risking my own hide. But if 80mph scared me I wouldn't be able to ride at all. Some of the interstates around here have 70mph speed limits and if you dont run at least 75-80 mph you'll get run over.
On the tube type tire reply.I think it was Thorby that said it??Is there something I should know? My tires are only 4500 miles old but they do have tubes. If I am working with the wrong equipment please let me know.
Oh,and redline is a goal. Not to be croseed...maybe...but nothing to be feared. ...maybe

Ohio will ticket anyone for 1 mph over. Michigan will typically let it go until around 8mph over. Unless it's at the end of the month, most areas around here have 'quotas'. They don't call them quotas because it's illegal, but their vacations, pay raises, and who gets fired when cuts get made are based on tickets written.

Cops here are either complete jerks or really laid back and try to find an out for you to prevent themselves all of the paper work. When I was 18 i got pulled over for going 100mph in a 55.He preached to me for a good bit then wrote me a ticket for only going 60. I beat it in court with a speedo calibration reciept. It cost as much as the ticket, but kept my driving record clean. In Bedford County cops are few and far between. We have so many stretches of two lane 55mph roads out here that run through the middle of several hundred acre farms. They got nowhere to hide. They usually hang out in town and write parking tickets all day.You know, close to the coffee and doughnut shops? But you do have to look up and check for helicopters occasionally. They use them from time to time.

That's a bit corrupt... But you get that here too... Sigh

Trapster won't download? HORRIBLE! What phone? Wi-Fi or over your data plan? If over data, make sure you have an awesome 3G or 4G connection.
I've done 135 in the Integra, and had a fair amount of power left. And that was when I was at a lower hp than I will be now. I should be able to hit the gear-limited 155 IIRC.
On the bike, however, I'll probably stop at about 100 ONCE I've got some experience. Until then, I'll stick to city, then back roads, then 70 mph on the highway, etc.
Trapster is named that because of the traps cops lay for us commonfolk, so this is one way to get around the traps. And, of course, be safe.
Or so they say.

My dad's told me about the helicopter cops. Out here, that's not a worry.
Plus I know where I can listen to a Kent County police scanner via my phone as well. Once the call goes out for me, I can be gone before the cop responds. :)
I don't like talking to cops without my invite.

Its 3G...but I live in the boonies. It has its pules and minuses. The heli-coppers usually only come out around the end of the month.Yeah, they got "qoutas" here as well.

How is that cost-effective, running a helicopter? Helicopters have quite high maintenance, expensive fuel costs, got to pay the pilot AND the officer...
And for what? So you can get a $150 speeding ticket?

If you have an Android phone, look for an app called My Tracks. It works with Google Maps, and keeps track of where you went, and how fast you were going all along the way. My son keeps one track on his phone when he did 'the ton' on his CB550. Fastest I ever went on my CB750 was about 85, and it was an adventure. I've had my Shadow up to 75-80, if memory serves. I still had about 2-3K more RPM to go, and probably would have topped a hundo if I had the guts to stay in the throttle.
