Thats what I was thinking. Measured tonight,I need a little over 3 1/2" of piston travel if it mounts front to back. I cant seem to find a way to mount it sideways, though.Man,I don't really want that thing poking out like that. Oh well, guess I'll just call it "sporty lookin'" and deal with it.

LOL.I guy a race with(cars) has a V Rod. Great looking bike, but he couldn't go over 80 mph on it.It shook too bad.Had it in the dealerships shop several times and finally ended up spending close to $2k on aftermarket wheels to cure it. Now it'll do 100 before it shakes too bad to lift. And he's soo proud of his water cooled Harley.

And to think he sneers at my lil Honda...maybe I oughta race him????

I love the V-ROD. One gorgeous and powerful bike.

Dealer near me even told me it'd be a great beginner bike. I call shenanigans though. Basterds.

Beginner bike?!? What is with some of the HD crowd? I was out riding one day and stopped at the HD dealership in town.I wanted to check out the Crossbones bike.Cool bike, but needs more rake IMO. Anyways,I saw an awesome Sporster I fell in love with.Called a 48 or something.Dont remember.I was seriously thinking about selling some blood or whatever it took to get that bike. He told me it was "great beginners bike"...for ladies.
I just dont get it.When did bikes become gender specific?

Still want that Sporty

The 883 is a decent bike. Or an 1100 I believe. They told me to get the 883, put the big bore kit in it, and it'd be faster than an 1100.

I reminded 'em I'm a new rider. They were like 'Oh, it won't be too much!'

Dumb asses....

All of 'em at my local dealership are running. They actually suggest you to start 'em up and run 'em. I've started the V-ROD several times, for example.

Definitely a nice ride.

When you're a sales guy and don't have to deal with the consequences of "too big of bike".

I had my chain off last night and decided to check the rear tire again while i could spin it freely.I found to flat spots on the rear tire. That explains the rump-rump-rump. Also looked at the date code and it said it was made in 2000! The tires were only supposed to have 300 miles on them and bought new about 2 or 3 years ago. Me and Eric(runs the bike shop) were looking at the flt spots wondering what was up and how a tire that old was only sold a few years ago. He laid the tire on his tire rack and the two flat spots lined up perfectly. We're guessing they got smushed against a tire rack for about 9 or 10 years and just deformed.

Oh well, got a nice set of Shinko's should be on soon. Darn good price too.Front and rear out the door mounted & balanced for $135.

Stabilizer is still up for auction on ebay ( thanks for the heads up Re-Run).If I get that piece and remount my camera we'll see if the bike will do what I claim it will

There's no cops that are members here, right??

If they are, they still gotta catch you in the act! Otherwise it was on a closed course in Mexico. How do you think we get away with filming races here?

Thread jack, sorry, but do you this your guy could make me up a set of cables for my DOHC? My dealer said $120. He also told me to buy from somewhere else.

I'll get pictures up soon-ish of my current wires.

You need plug cables or for your controls? I pretty sure you mean plug cables. I'll ask  when I pick up my tires and get back to you. All of his prices have been very reasonable so far.

Closed course in Mexico ,huh?LOL  Actually Eric was telling about a course in NC
( I think) it was called the maxton mile. Basically the slat flats in north crackalacka. Sounds like fun,i need to check into it

Spark plug wires. D'oh!

The boots are cracked, they look like they're original, and I don't really want 31 year old spark plug wires on my bike. Since I don't know wtf I'm doing to build my own (you know, just order the boots, the coil screw-on part, and the spark plug wire itself) I just want to get some new wires, remove the tank, throw the new wires on, and do it back up. Should be a 10-minute job if I can get the seat back on...

That's how the tank makes me feel...
