Lost part - 81 CB750K

jbrightwell
That thin washer that goes next to the oil filter, under the spring??  Well Im not sure it was ever there but I definitly dont have it now!  I have kept all my parts in one spot right beside the bike but no washer.  Anything special about that washer?  Right diameter and very thin according to pics in shop manual.  Ideas?  Thanks!

Often call the D.S. washer because it can stick to the filter and Dip Sh*ts throw it away without retrieveing it first. I just bought one myself from the local Honda Dealership. So I know they are still available. Let me know if you need the part #.

My thought exactly about it sticking to old filter, but of course no luck.  If its not too much trouble for that part number please shoot that my way.  No hurry, its still winter in Iowa...

Its only purpose is to prevent the spring from penetrating the rubber gasket on the filter.  The OEM washer is unusually thin, but a thicker washer will serve.  By using a thicker washer, it will increase the pressure on the filter by a very small amount.  Other than that, there is nothing remarkably special about it (use a replacement with the correct diameter, however).  Cheers!

Thank you SGTSLAG and Hoosier Daddy!    I missed a deal this weekend.  Craigs List:  1973 Honda SL350.  Never been out in the weather, and looked like it.  Not run for 10 years, side covers and MUFFLERS intact. $500.  Yes $500. Someone got the deal of the century but it wasnt me...

These things are dirt cheap. Vintage CB750 sells a 5 pack for $3.50. That's how common it is to lose these.
