Thanks guys. When I first saw that design on Marks rotor I fell in love with it. When I received the rotor to use as the template for the template I was like woooooow lol. That thing looked incredible. Good news is I found out the rear rotors off the F's are the same OD as these fronts. Once I figure out how to make another set of hub mounting holes in this template I can use it for those as well.

Did I?! I don't even care at this point lol
I was talking to Eric today. He mentioned that this bike strikes him more as a street tracker than a cafe. I told him I was so tired of all the labels and types of names that I didn't even care It's just a mutt. It don't even need a name.

Hey Shiney, did you ever run K&N filters, or just the EMGO's? http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=45863.0I read this on DTT and thought I remembered seeing the chrome pods on your bike, plus you mentioning that putting the stock airbox on generated more power...

Neither, actually. The ''pods'' I had are something we sell at the speed shop. They are actually designed as valve cover breathers A company called RPC distributes them. I have no clue who actually makes them. I think the key to pods sucking(vs stock air box) may have to do with the lack of the velocity stack built into the factory setup. V stacks have been proven to make power every single time,in every single application. Automotive, that is. It's the whole straightening of the air stream effect that helps. Or so I'm told.
The pods I had breathed really well. Same cotton gauze construction the K&N is known for. I've calibrated my speedo with 3 different GPS's and I'm very confident that it's accurate. With the ''pods'' I had i could almost hit 140 mph(something everyone tells me is impossible on these bikes),but with the stock setup I struggle to get past 110 mph. . Sucks.
If I ever make time I really want to make a set of pods with a v-stack mount as a test. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

In that thread i linked to someone mentioned that the air boots act like velocity stacks that vent to the air box. Interesting.

Tools put the fear in me with his busted up engine in one of his new bikes,so I got myself some crash bars.
Yuck. They don't need to stick out THAT far! Pus, I leaned the bike over in the shop and I know they will drag sticking out that far. My next project-modding these Buick bumpers.
But I got another wild hair yesterday. Ever since I painted this bike silver it's just looked bloated and plain. Decided to try a pin stripe on it to see what it would look like. I'm not elated, but pretty happy with the results. Too busy???

I like the pinstripes. What looks busy is those beehive looking thingy s sticking out of the valve cover.

You know I think I saw a set of those on an episode of The Twilight Zone the other night. They were part of a two headed alien costume. I know Gerald would give his left n%^ for them, but I just can't bring myself to encourage/enable his tacky bling addiction.

I really dig those pinstripes. One of the things holding me back from painting my tank is that I like the stock stripes.

Thanks guys! And letting Tools bother me?..meh,just another grumpy old man haha The stripes look really obnoxious in those pics. They actually seem to blend in and look alot more natural in real life. I just can't seem to photograph anything and make it look good. I think I'm gonna paint the tail and stripe it to match. It bugs me that all my body panels don't match.

So I blew a fork seal out riding this bike Monday evening. Last night I tore in to it and had the fork legs setting in the corner waiting for parts to arrive. Well, I'm sitting there looking at my decapitated scoot and the thought hits me that I'm only two steering stem nuts away from having the whole front end off... so I robbed the front end off hackjob!
Hey,might as well give it a test ride before I go any further on that build, right?
When I went to mount the speedo back on I was standing there trying to decide the quickest and easiest way to just slap it on there. This is only temporary after all(is it?). After digging around for a while I saw the cam holders out of that old matic that I parted out. They fit 7/8 bars perfectly! So I miade up a couple studs real quick and BOOM-done!
The black plate was the preexisting bracket that holds it to the stock trees.
Elegant? Hardly.
Sturdy? Oh yeah!
Staying? Why the heck not...
Also had to make some adapters for the 7/8 bars to fit in the Pro Taper risers. I turned up a couple sleeves then split it down the middle. (Please note the use of a proper spanner wrench )
And there we are! Fenderless, but otherwise ready to rock I can't wait to get a leg over this thing and see how it does!

I thought you sold the cam towers off the matic? You know I discovered that Honda did mark them at the factory. They are stamped on the sides.

Had to go across town to the machine shop to get a couple of bushings made for my bike since they aren't sold by anyone. I was thinking, all Shiny has to do is walk over to his lathe to whip one out, must be nice! I gotta get one of those.
