Won,t idle until warmed up

dan72
I have a k2 750 I have to set there and keep the engine around 2k rpm,s until it,s warmed up than it will idle nicely around 1000 to 1100 rpms. The only thing I can think of is the intake boots sealing when warmed up? There new oem but the clamps are original. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Is your choke working? What condition are your points in?

Points probally are original 9k miles, gap set right. Choke slides adjusted correctly choke does not seem to make a difference, Except I have to full choke it to get it fire first off. points would effect cold idle?  Idles and runs great after warmed up.

Yes, worn/corroded points will affect idle. Let me see if I understand this, even with the choke on, you still must keep the engine revved to keep it running until it is warmed up. After it is warm, it will idle correctly with the choke off? This does not really sound like a vacuum leak. Either your pilot jets are plugged, or an ignition problem.

Yes choking it does not help, The pilots are sensitive to adjustment I tried that seems to run best at 1 3/4 turns out. I checked the points after You mentioned it, There pretty burnt but I cannot figure why after it warms up it idles great, Gonna take Your advice and order new points and condensers, Thank You this thing been driving Me crazy.

"Adjusted pilots?" The only way to adjust pilot jets is to change them, or drill them out. I think you are talking about the "air" screw. Screwing it in makes it run richer, and screwing it out leans it out. Also avoid the Sudco brand points. I am not too thrilled with them. vintagecb750.com has the Dihatchi sp brand points, and they work much better.

Got the points and condensers today and installed them, It  actually idles from the gitgo, I have to thank You again for helping Me out Tools. I never heard of the brand on the points Daiichi made in Japan. The condensers were shot too bright blue arc on the old points at idle.
