installed clubmans throttle sticks

This post was updated on .

Hi all!Need your advices again!

I changed my bars for clubmans. i tried to re-install my old crappy throttle cables. i know they are very old and a little out of shape with curves in them and cracks....for sure i'm gonna have to change them but....

They were working fine before i dismantle the bike so i tried tu put them back.

Now, throttle is very hard to twist and stick....
i tried to oil them soaking wet........no results!

If i tchek carb ramp without cable it works freely, no resistence..

Could it be only b/c of the lenght of the cables? (clubmans are lower)

Is there a way to cut new cables?

Or is it better to buy universal cables???

Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

You have a routing problem. They are either being pinched, or pulled making them hard to move. Try rerouting them.

For sure they are not pinched.
What do u mean by "pulled"?

Do you think their original lenght could be the problem? Too long with clubs??

What do you think about "cuttable" ones ?

One of the cables (cant remember if it's the pull or the push cable) has an adjustment area in it. Should be a 10mm nut and an 8mm hex-shaped sleeve. That can cause problems.

But you can't really tuck cables away real tight. They require pretty long sweeping bends. Take the bars off the bike with the throttle still installed. Keep the cables hooked up to your carbs and hold the bars in a position where the cables are just running straight. See if the problem goes away then. If so, it's a routing issue.  *did that make any sense at all?*

Also, grease the bar under the throttle tube. Keeps the tube from wearing out as fast. Not a requirement but I do it for mine and my throttle can be turned with 2 fingers.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Probleme solved!

I changed all the cables........problem was still there!
Routing was fine!
I greased a little under the throttle tube....no change....

I had this idea to lube The "forks" that are pulling on carbs rods.....

Bingo!
That was it!

Thank you guys again for your valuable hints!
