That footpeg bolt goes all the way through to motor to the other footpeg, so if you put a wrench on the other footpeg bolt it will hold still for you, make it easier for you to tighten it back up at least, lol. It shouldn't fight you to go into neutral, mine doesn't? Have you tried adjusting the clutch at all to see if that helps? I know my neutral dummy light refuses to stay lit and not blow on me for whatever reason, don't know if you are trying to use the light or just going by feel.

47 tooth in rear, 18 tooth in front.

2.6111111111111111111[...]1 ratio.

Now the real question is... what do I do to change this?

In other news, it appears the sprockets are getting old.

Front:

Rear:

What are others running for gearing and their highway (70 mph) speeds? I gotta find out what sprockets to get.

Thanks guys!

Good to know! Will (most likely) be going on Thursday, as I've got another security meeting tomorrow, after an interview.

Rode to work today, was a blast! I was smiling the entire time.

I can't wait to have it running like a top.

Yes, nothing whatsoever beats it. But I still need to clean the socket cover, so I can't ride it tomorrow. will be putting it on Thursday. I'm riding to work again Friday. It's not even a question.

As for my picture, that was taken tonight. My roommate is an amateur photographer, and she was taking shots of my bike from the ground, but was sitting around 5, 6+ feet away from the bike. I was walking across, and my hand lined up PERFECT with the mirror by distinct accident. I was just walking, she happened to take the shot, and this was the result.

There were a couple awesome shots really.

Your sprockets aren't getting...they have been old for some timeThey are gonna eat your chain if they haven't already.

18-47 is pretty typical on a SOHC.Not sure if it changes much with a DOHC. Mine is 18-48 and runs 75ish at 5k rpm. Any chance you have a really short tire, front or back?

Was going to measure, totally forgot to. I will tomorrow after my meeting. However, I am pretty sure they are the correct size, or at least near it. They aren't oddly small. It doesn't look like it's underfilled, at least.

That is about right for a rear tire. I hope your front tire is not the same size!LOL! If it was I gaurantee your speedo is way off!

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

As I said, my speedo was proven accurate to my dads entirely stock Goldwing. I would use Trapster but no way to affix my phone to the handlebars.

Plus when I am in traffic, my shown speeds aren't far off. On backroads, I showed 60 mph and was keeping with traffic. Not speeding, not getting passed. I suppose my tire, which looks correct, could be way off, with my speedo AND my dads speedo being off the same, AND traffic going 90 in a 55 with me, but this all seems highly unlikely.

Something else is up with this. I still want to say clutch possibly. Which I find hard to believe at 11k miles.

Yeah,I was just messing around with the whole speedo joke.No way you'd ever get a 130 on your front end to begin with. If someone ever put the wrong oil in your bike it could cause the clutch to slip regardless of the mileage.

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

What gets me though, is that if it was truly slipping, then wouldn't the rpms where it shifts be off as well? Also, I haven't noticed any sort of rpm increases while keeping speed steady.

Other thoughts/ideas as to why my bike would be so far off? If it's something I can change, great. But if it's going to start turning into "I don't know, replace this..." then I'm not entirely certain I want to keep this bike.

Is this the clutch kit I'd have to get?

http://www.bikebandit.com/kg-clutch-factory-pro-clutch-disc-set?m=2003

Not to mention needing sprockets and a chain.

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

Interesting...

The more I look, the more I wonder if I either have a different (smaller?) motor, or else a hodge-podge of parts. The caliper, these sprockets, the fact the rings are gone. Here's what sprockets I should have per http://www.newmotorcycleparts.com/drive_parts/sprockets/sprockets_hon.html#79_CB750_DOHC_Fours

Or a well-known site: http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/New-Chain-and-Sprockets-td458168.html
Which a poster states its 15/44.

Time for new sprockets and chain. Going to go with a 530 chain.

Okay, I really need to stop posting in here lol. Feel as though I'm being a bit annoying...

Is this everything I'll need to completely do my own spark plug wires? Already have new plugs from the dealer in there, so not upgrading yet to Iridium plugs. But I will next time I need new plugs. Meanwhile... thoughts on these? Want to order 'em today or tomorrow.

Yeah, .if tour clutch is slipping it wont have any consistency.  It'll be all over the board. If tpu wanna test it try and do a burnout.  That is about as much load as you can put on one.

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

cdaiscool
Never done one, and not sure I want to at this stage. I suppose I could also try the car tried-and-true method: go up against an immovable object, put bike into gear, try keeping the bike running as you let the clutch out. If you can get the clutch out AND it is still running... well, your clutch sucks.

That's a little expensive, especially since u still have to pay for shipping and handling. I'd see if that dealer can't make u a set of wires for less, I know my local bike shop made mine in like 10 mins for $35. Plus then the wait time is so much less
