Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

I havnt had any problems with running pods on my bike. It runs like a top... If you jet properly you will never have a problem! I have K&N pods and slip-on mufflers but stock other than that. I still get 35-40 mpg.
My jetting
Main: Drilled to .064"
Needle: 4 .020" shims (per needle)
Mixture Screw: 3.5 Turns Out
Drilled Slide lift holes to #14 drill bit

Go to the dyno jet link I posted it showed everything you need to know about their kit.

I ride in summer 100 deg. days, and winter 20 deg. days. I ride in Louisiana 50 deg. days and 2 days later in freezing Indiana weather with snow coming down. So I want to keep the stock box so the pods don't get covered in snow (can happen), rain (rode in 4"/hour rain storm last year), and dust (I do some dirt riding).

I'll look more into the dynojet set-up, thanks!

Motorhead. What you're talking about sound like settings for the sohc carbs. Can you confirm that you are talking about the doc cv carbs?

I agree... For your application running an air box is manditory! I copied that from an earlier conversation and for some reason I thought you had pods. You won't regret the dyno jet purchase.

Re: 1981 CB750K - Repair/Tune-up

So I ordered the MAC exhaust from Cycle X. Haven't heard anything since, so hoping it just magically shows up this week.

Just finished running new cables for the clutch, choke, and throttle. Did not lube them. Took the bowls off the carbs, found some gunking up in there. Took out the jets and such so I can do a full carb clean on 'em and get them back in.

Need to order grips, a clutch lever (and how the heck does it come out? ) and a rear tire stand so I can remove the rear tire and chain.

Old exhaust is off and sitting in my garage. I looked at the little inserts that keep the exhaust from leaking, and they're beyond rusty. Also, the nuts came right off, very little fight. I bet they were loose and the inserts were leaking, causing some of my running issues.

Starting to get ideas for next winter's build. If I can afford it. I hate being broke (responsible, adult, all synonyms). Any millionaires want to adopt me? Anyone want to sponsor the bike?

No? Okay.

tl;dr - I will get pics later since I know that's what sells things. Also, motor for the Integra is now home!

I was wondering if you still had the Integra. So you got the turbo all sorted out?

Glad to see you taking suck good care of your bike bud. Now that I'm getting more and more in to motorcycles I start seeing them languishing all over the place. It's a sad sight for sure.

And,yes. PICS!!!

I have to scale my plans for the Integra back considerably. Still building the bottom end, not touching the top except maybe cams, and then putting it all back together. Should still be scary fast.

Still trying to figure out how I am going to do pics. I used to just go phone to FB and link from there, but now can't as the FB app started screwing with my phone and Verizon wont warranty it out. The water indicators went to shit on my trip.

Anyone have a rear tire stand they would recommend? Looking to order today, so I can get the chain cleaned and de-gunked, then reoiled and put back on.

I just put my bike on the centre stand. I can take the back wheel off with it just on the stand.

That's what I'd normally do, but right now it's strapped to a bench I built and can't put it on the center stand. Gotta either unstrap it, put it on the stand, then re-strap it (I suppose I could just do that. Hmm.) Or use a rear tire stand.

I can personally attest to that. Bought one, it bent as it went up. They let me return it.

Question, and lots of pictures...

Question: I got 2 different gasket sizes for the exhaust. How do I know which one to tighten down?

Statement: I ordered the wrong exhaust. I am le sad. I wanted black, got chrome. DANG NABBIT! Guess we'll see how chrome and black look...

Pictures!

So, which ones and how?

They're for this bad boy:

OUCH! Any ideas how to fix?

Mmmmm. Bike.

My carbs; I haven't even started cleaning 'em yet!

Don't knock my organizational skills...

Or lack thereof.

Is that a sun in the background?

A car!

Think it'll fit under the seat of the bike?

I seem to be missing something. There's only 4 there...

Taken an hour ago. Not ridable yet

Together at last...

Anyone needs a 4-4 exhaust?

Close-up:

So, easiest way to clean these fins?

My cat has evil plans me thinks...

Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

I don't know if it matters. I'm hoping someone else will pipe in and say it doesn't.

I have the small ones and they're trashed from a PO putting them in backwards.

There's no scratches on them... I just accidentally ordered chrome and not black.

Going to run them anyway.
