Now the frame is all ready for cleaning, welding and eventually powderconating :)

Good to know you are getting motivated.

Nice to follow your work and see what your creativity ends up materializing.

I like the gas tanks of these DOHC,they are long and tall, no need for aftermarket tanks, but that is my personal taste. I understand there is another school of style that likes the SOHC.  You can try spoked wheels and other tricks that will give your bike an SOHC look yet with a more modern powerplant.

If you decide going that route, let me purchase your gas tank. Looking for a second tank for my bike.

Im not yet 100% sure which way im going yet :( im guessing im not going the "stock" route as the previos owner thought it would be a good idea to cut the backend (sub frame) off :( looks like I will need to find a solution here - the cafe route is looking promising at the moment - what you guys think ?

Where are you based ? I already have a load of spare parts - including a tank or 2 :)

PS - thanks for the input and tips... re the spoked wheels, that idea did cross my mind, however due to cost etc, I think I will end up sticking with the comstars, as I also think they are pretty cool in a certain kind of way :D

Thanks for the link... i have already got a hoop made :) but its always good to know - this pb wont be my last project and they look like a good price compared to the effort require to make them (without a pipe bender) ;)

PS - Cafe is looking like the most promising route

Back to the CB750 :) I started the "massive" task of cleaning / degreasing the filthy engine:

Until a nice new engine stand was delivered :) :

Time for another re-organise of the garage to make some space allowing for the engine to be worked on easily (enough):

I found an old table in the cellar to mount the engine on (not perfect but will do for now):

I started stripping the top end of the engine to see what sort of condition things are in:

All of the center head bolts were sheared off :( will have to replace these (not a great start) ...

In my "novice" opinion, so for so good and the chais seem to be of good / correct tension ...

time to get the alignment right before moving the cams, this is the part I was most worried about :S After a lot of reading and asking around I think (hope) I did it correctly ...

Nice work.  My CB750F has 900F cams. I was told the best cam would be 1100F cams.  Something you might want to look into while sorting out pieces.

I have been looking for 1100F cams, but so far no luck. When ever I look for a set, none around.  Later on I hear about someone geting a set..... life

My hideout  is in Redondo Beach, CA. Let me know about any parts you might have.

Nice weather around here for a ride these days. Tomorrow I am dusting off my bike. Will post some pics.

Nice engine stand. Something I want to get at some point. Best way to work on amotor and/or build one.

  Happy Thanks Giving !

That's good to know about the 1100 cams !!! What is the main advantage using them ? do you know ? - performance, strength ???...

To be honest, if mine are good, im just going to re-use them to save money. Im not too bothered about getting as much power out of the engine as possible - but I do want it to run as nice and as smooth as possible.

Im from the UK but currently based in Germany so im guessing with postage to CA its pb not worth your while re my parts... although you are welcome to any if I can help you out.

Re weather - we have snow on the way, and its freezing here atm

Happy Thanks Giving to you and all the other American users !!!
