Exactly! Great minds think alike!! There's a few different options that seem easy enough, but that's the basic idea.

1-Pull type slave cylinder that will attach to the factory hardware. Probably what I'll do

2- Push type SC attached to reversed factory hardware. Not sure if the factory setup's rotation can be reversed. Haven't had time to investigate this. But pull type SC's apparently hold up better since only the piston is sealed vs. the pull type's piston and rod.

3- Totally replace the factory setup with a retracting piston assy. Would look awesome, but haven't researched cost or doability yet.

Speedway offers these pull type SC's for $35. Almost too easy/cheap to pass up,but I'm not familiar with their reputation.

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Pull-Type-Slave-Cylinder,7169.html?utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=CSEGoogle&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&CAWELAID=1268497267&catargetid=1784208710&cagpspn=pla&gclid=COKTuJ_MzrcCFYWi4AodhDUAwA

I can get a Wilwood for a few dollars more. Good reputation and rebuild kits are readily available. Haven't checked the price on these through the shop yet,but I can probably get one for a song.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilwood-Style-Pull-Type-Clutch-Slave-Cylinder-260-1333-/190551029638#vi-content

A retractable piston style would look killer straddling the side of the engine. Especially with the outer cover removed. But it would be pricey and would also create constant tension (to a degree) against the stock throwout setup, which may not be such a good idea.

Use a clutch slave cylinder off a 97 Kawasaki ZX-9 Ninja. All you would need to do is make a new cover that has mounting holes to mount the slave cylinder.

Here is a push cylinder that would look cool if you wanted to keep the rotating mechanism.

"Image not available" on both links

I did some more looking at the clutch today. Too lazy to post pics so I'll get back to that later. And I'm pretty excited about a recent deal I got,so I gotta blabber about that.A bud over at customfighters hooked me up.

Hackjob Update

MikeGyver set me up with these Ducati 916 bits. 16mm brake MC is what the GSXR rotors require. And,if my research is correct, Ducati 916 and Monster's use the exact same rotor mounting pattern as CB750's! The inner register is a tab larger. These rotors have a 10mm offset and I need roughly 20mm. So that leaves me with enough room to make the adapters I need. The adapters will be simple spacers with register lips to center everything up. Then it should all bolt together using the existing holes in the hub. Sweet, huh?

The rotors are mismatched colors. It's ok...I got paint!

The hookup is that he sold me all of this for $80 shipped! That's dirt freakin' cheap for Duc parts!

I started in on figuring out mounting the head light. Looking for something slim and light. Hoosier's suggestion earlier kept playing in my mind, but I just wanted something different. I came up with making 4 rings that fasten to the forks via set screws. They have threaded inserts in them where the struts will attach that will go to the head light bucket ears. With all 4 rings pushed against the upper and lower clamps they should be fairly unnoticeable. At least that's the plan. The hardware, aluminum tubing, and scrap aluminum I bought today for this set me back $15

 1 down,3 to go.

The links worked, but the images in the ad wouldn't come up.Weird.

Hackjob Updblahblah

Chunky pc'd my spokes for me,but they had bare spots where we hung them on the rack. I knew it was gonna do that, but I didn't feel like masking, plugging and hanging 80 spokes and another 80 nipples. So after they were coated I thinned a little bit of gloss black paint and dipped the tips. I actually kinda prefer this as powder coat is not very flexible. With the tips painted where they go through the hub maybe it won't be prone to chip there.

Drying overnight....

This silicone is NOT ''Crystal Clear''  It's ok,I got paint.

Got the rest of the headlight rings done. They're looking a little bulky. Especially the uppers. Might scallop the edges once I get it all sorted out.

Started loading up the stator cover. Found out that my new stator didn't come with the seal for the wires on it. Boo! So I salvaged the seal of my old stator. Any suggestions on sealing these wires into this plug? I don't want a seeper.

Just curious, though I may have missed it somewhere, whatever happened to the Sportster?
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

The Sportster is lurking in the corner for now.I'm hoping to go to the Mid Ohio swap meet here in a month or so(???) and looking for either a replacement frame (stock) or maybe even get my hands on something else. Fingers crossed for a featherbed frame I got way too much stuff going on right now. I might be pushing Hackjob in the corner soon. I gotta a deal that is too good to pass up (auto related)and time is scarce,so...you know.

But! Until then...

I think this setup may have some possibilities. I need to do some brain storming with you guys on this clutch. I may start a new thread for that. But for now I've got this to play with.

Magura made it. It fits a Cannondale dirtbike I dunno, but I've got it for R&D purposes for now. It's $40 if I decide to keep it. The SC is nice and slim. The lever won't clear the switch housing,so that sucks. The housing has "9.5" embossed on it,not sure if that denotes piston size or what. No clue whether it is compatible ( bore size related) with the Ducati clutch mc on the way or not. I can always make a piece to step it off the bars for switch housing clearance if it come down to it. But like I said,I need to bounce some ideas off you guys. Hope to free up some time for that soon.

Laced up the rear rim today (and that's ALL I got done ) But it turned out good. Ten thou runout axially and twenty thou runout side to side. Way tighter than FSM specs so I'm happy with it. The rims on Water Buffalo have similar runout and I can turn loose of the bars at speed with total stability,so I'm calling it done. Holding out on lacing up the front rim til I get done turning out the rotor adapters.

Hackjob Update

Pretty much just updating to keep track of the tab again.

Picked up a throttle tube today-$10. My weather pack connectors came in- $70. <-pricey,but I'm addicted to them. Some frrebies came thanks to Whiplash over at CF and the front rim got laced tonight.

Freebies from Whip. CB chain adjusters weren't wide enough to span the s-arm just right so I knabbed these. Just gotta figure out how to bore them to hold a 20mm axle now. And he set me up with the chain guard for the s-arm.

Got the rim laced up quicker than expected so I started soldering on some weather packs.

Not a motorcycle yet,but it does at least have two wheels!

Hackjob Update

Finally made time to take a look at the Ducati rotors I picked up. The hub mounting pattern was in fact spot on-yay!-so I went to work making the adapters. The register is larger on the Duc pieces but it was all pretty much a simple job. 0.790'' wide disc with some holes drilled and the innards and outards sized to fit it all together.

Man,I dig spoked rims...especially when they are wearing 320's

There's some excess metal around the edges, need to trim the fat a little. I might pop a few extra holes in there to shed some weight, too. It's probably not gonna happen, but the Water Buffalo weighed in at 480 lbs. I'd love for this one to weigh in a bit lighter. 450 lbs probably ain't gonna happen, but at least 460 would be nice. Time will tell...

Caliper spacing was a bit off the first go around. They spacers were initially 0.810''. It's hard to measure in there. But after a trial fit and a trim the centered up just fine. I checked both sides with this spacer and it just right on both sides. Which means i got it all right,I guess. woo hoo!

Now I just gotta make a mate to this lil fella.

And I was able to unload the old GSXR rotors that wouldn't work for me for $70,so that'll come off the tab.

Previous tab                $1,385
sold unused discs               70

Current tab                  $1,315                I like when the tab goes down :)

Got the other adapter knocked out. Just need to source some 150mm long bolts and I can double check that the runout is OK.

Thinking I need to black out the adapters. They stick uot like a sore thumb and look pretty dorky.

Gotta figure out what to do about the different colored rotors. I don't mind the black, but I'm digging the gold. Just don't know how to recreate it??? Don't wanna overdo it on the black either. Any ideas?

I think the gold would go good with the yellow paint and break up all the black.  I'd personnally just get some gold paint and shoot em both to match. Bike is looking good! Kinda jelous.
