Just what the world needs. What some of you have been waiting for.

Just what the world needs. Another Cafe style bike. I love custom motorcycles, but I consider the Cafe style bikes the lamest of the custom bikes. I mean take off the fenders, add a set of clubmans, and a hump behind the seat, and call it a Cafe Racer. Kind of boring I think. However there is a reason I am doing this though. It's pure ego!! Anyway here is my twist on a Cafe Style I call "The Buffet Racer"

I have started my mock up. I thought the Crapy fiberglass seat I got from Slowandugly was a good start, but it needs a lot of help. I mocked it up with some cardboard.

I am planning on painting it black, and having some tasteful touches of chrome. I am not yet decided on whether to paint the engine gloss black, semi-gloss black, or silver. I am trying to decide on a design to trim the tank with. I am, so sick of the customary checkered flag down the center of the tank. Toolbabe suggested I find out what the flag they use, for unsportsman like conduct on the track is, and use that. Anyway I am totaly open, for suggestions.

You know,I have to agree with the whole Cafe thing. When I first got my bike I googled CB750 and thats all that came up. I really liked what I saw,but in retrospect, did nothing but follow a fad. I hate fads. But I warn you! When you're leaning on the clubmans you WILL want to go fast. I dont know why that is,but it just works out that way.

At my local track the ''flag'' for unsportsman like conduct is a middle finger. Not sure what you wanna do with that, but I hope it helps.

Oh,and those lowering blocks give the bike a killer stance, but look like they would ride about like a hardtail!

Actually they ride better with the lowering blocks. The way the angle works, it's like having a progressive spring. Also I like the finger idea, but don't know how it would work on a flag.

I always thought the blocks looked like the gave up all the leverage from the swing arm. Like it would never compress the shocks. Shows what I know, huh?

Personally I have gotten into the cafe style but I have always made loaded cruisers out of my bikes, and yes when leaning down on the clubmans I just want to throttle it out and go nuts.

One question though what are these lowering blocks? Seeing as how I have been tweaking my cafe setup on my bike I am interested in what these are?

Bike looks good to me though.

Maybe if i could find a windjammer front fairing and some hard bags I would go back to the cruiser style.

If, you look at the bottom of the shocks, you will see the lowering blocks. I could help, you out with the Windjammer, and hard bags.
And Hellbilly. I like how that works.

I just did a wikipeda search, for racing flags, and this is what I found.
"The per-bend black/white flag

A diagonally-divided black-and-white flag is displayed with a car number to indicate a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. This flag can be displayed if a car tries to intentionally drive another car off the course, or if a driver gets out of his/her car and initiates an altercation with another driver.

Some administrators (NASCAR and IndyCar) do not distinguish mechanical problems or unsportsmanlike conduct from rules violations and simply use the solid black flag for all violations."

I am thinking I could do the center of the tank with a green, or red field, and put several small flags, or do this as a checker pattern.

I love the cafe style bike...but I'm building one not to follow the fad, I just like the look. I like the stock look too, that's why I couldn't cut up my nice driver to make a cafe. :)
I think rarity has a lot to do with it's appeal, while you may see thousands of cafe's on the internet, how many actually show up to your local shows, or even ride around in your area? At our last BIG show down here in FL (Billy Joel showed up!) there were maybe six or eight cafe's out of almost a thousand bikes in the show and parking lot. I only know three guys with one within 50 miles and of those three, I've only met two, the third is a member of one of the boards and lives in Miami, but I haven't met him yet.
Anyway, for your project....go for it, whatever the reason! :)

Good point Mark. Other than mine, there is only one other cafe that I see occasionally. Never very close either. :(

And I thought unsportsmanlike conduct in Nascar looked like this

Lol, I hope that doesn't offend too many people....
