MR. James_Black 1980 Honda cb750f PROJECTO :p

Mr.James_Black
This post was updated on .
FIRST OF ALL
Thank you all for having me here. Im really excited on making this bike work and use her as my first timer.  Im very open to suggestions comments and even critisism so SPIT IT OUT!!

Here we go.

1. Last summer by ex brother in law gave me this motorcycle for free. He brought it from Cali to Idaho where she have been laying in a barn for the last 10yrs. Now she is here in WA state :)

2. I started to work on her immediately. I clean her up, spray painted the tank but found out she is very rusted. So I am getting a new tank.

3. I met this cool kid who actually repair this old bikes. He did one himself and had help other people in the area with the basic mechanics of it. So he helped me out.
 >>>> we change the oil, the spark plugs and rebuilded the carburators.

3. After the basic changes he place this little bottle of gas in the line and put some wires directly to his battery. We want to make sure the engine turns. So there is light on her but it didnt turn.

4. After looking around and checkin for possible electrical problems he found this....

This was last fall. He dissapeard on me. Never called back. Never finished the project.
I found a guy on craiglist who does fabrications. He came and saw the bike and he said he will help me get it running and sweet looking.

So........by next month I am getting a gas tank from WashingtonChoppers.com also the spark units, rectifier, battery. Lets see what happens.  I WIll keep you posted brothers.

Question about seats?

Should I reupholster the current one? Reason I ask is because I also like the bobber ones but I dont want to cut the frame. Can you place a solo seat without cutting the frame?

I like something like this but in brown :)

Let me know

I have put solo seats on without cutting the frame. I just weld on bungs, for the springs, and a mount, for the front.

Correction: it wasn't meant to be fixed by someone OTHER than you. Your bike's waiting for you to take charge and finish it up!

The awesome thing about these bikes is that they're easy to work on. If you don't already have a manual, get one, and just start in. The knowledge on this forum will lead you right. Lots of good folks here willing to help out with the stuff you don't already know.

Check out the manual and start hunting. Best and easiest way to find 'em!
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

Right on Bosco!

The CDI units are under the seat. I would start with installing a battery, and getting the starter cranking. Then checking, for spark at the plugs. If no spark start working backwards from there. Plug wires, coils, voltage to coils......

Alright guys.

I found another guy who is actually willing to do anything in his power to make this mofo work. I praise God.

Now....
Friday night we found 2 CDI units from a 1983 honda cb750  and we try them. Nothing happend. You see the light and it attempted to turn (more that it did before).

The problem that we are facing is that there is no spark been produce to the spark plugs.

HELP!!!

Did you test the coils? check everything up to the coils? also make sure the killswitch is disengaged, I ran into that problem several times, and also if the killswitch is bad it will kill your spark too.

My electronic ignition uses the factory coils. But it is an old Martek unit.Do they still make those??? The elec. ign.'s are just a more precise way off triggering the coils without the need for future adjustments. You still have to have a coil.
