Re: My 1981 Honda CB750K Project Bike

Hellbilly429
I did and no response, lol.

So setback, in order to get the bike to charge again I had to ground out the white wire on the stator because for some reason the regulator/rectifier was putting out voltage out of both the black and white wire. Got the bike to charge, but when I rev it it will now climb to 18 volts, now I don't think that's right but possibly the battery is down low and the reg/rec is trying to compensate for it? Think I'm gonna contact the oregon motorcycle guy to see what's up

Re: My 1981 Honda CB750K Project Bike

Hellbilly429
Contacted dude, found out that the green wire off the regulator/rectifier goes to the turn signal relay for a ground? Wtf? Since I have a 2 prong relay installed, that wire was left dangling, so I did as instructed and grounded that wire directly to the battery. Still no charge, and still getting voltage out of both the white and black wire coming off of the reg/rec. So emailed back for instructions to send the unit in for repair. Just means more wait time and money, but it's still early in the season, and I'm psyched because I know the bike will charge now, and (knock on wood) once this is fixed, it's a matter of mounting the new front turn signals and getting this thing inspected, then I'm riding!

Cool man! You do have good tires, right? I know they aren't cheap, but old tires are just so dangerous.

Sorry Shiny, never got an alert that you replied.

Tires are a few years old, but they are in good shape.

I'm still waiting on that regulator rectifier to come in.

I just cut up some mounts for my front turn signals while I'm waiting and ran a wire directly from the green wire that went to the original turn signal relay straight to the battery, so the re-done reg/rec will have no excuse not to work, lol.

Also looking at my uncle's old sportster seat thinking hmmmm, that would look nice on my bike, lol. But main priority is getting it road worthy and riding.

All good mane, lol. Got the reg/rec back, installed and bike charges sweet now

Got a bunch of other misc. things done too, mostly adjustments

Cleaned up everything best I could with the wiring around the reg/rec

Got my new turn signals mounted and leveled

Of course I haven't been able to ride it a whole lot, but it is now inspected and fully on the road for the first time since 2011!

I was teasing about the woodpecker muffler actually. At least it's not a gold dryer vent!

Lol, just got back from riding around for a couple hours, that woodpecker muffler sounds great

I need to get the front forks figured out, they seem to have gotten lifeless since it sat, I've got 25 pounds in them just to stiffen them up a bit, but don't really want to go more if it just makes them hard as a rock.

Lady friend is the good kind of trouble this time

Truck
Get a can of contact cleaner and go to town. Had the same problem with my 900, cleaned all the contacts, made sure everything fit nice and tight and haven't had a problem since.

Good luck!
