Re: My bike…1974

I heard back from Kate...she says "Hi Tools."
They might just end up costing more from them...and they are asking for an exchange...I sent a pic as I'm sure they didn't understand what I was asking for the first time. They shouldn't need my original to make one that's different from it in length and width. Only the front pivot area would be the same, and the shock mounting points. Anyway, here's their reply:

Hi Mark, thank you so much for your inquiry and pass on hello's to Tools1
for us. If you have a picture of what you are thinking, please feel free to
send it on.  The swingarms usually come in raw finish and your chain guard
would be required to provide mounting tabs.
An axle would be no problem, although the wider rear tire is going to be a
bit different.
You can usually go with one size larger tire on the stock rim.  Should you
change rims and go to something wider, you will require an offset sprocket
or a jackshaft assembly
The swing arm program is an exchange program the cost on the standard
swingarm is 299.99 plus your core.
Let us know your thoughts for tire size, rim and axle diameter and we can go
from there.
I hope I have been able to answer a few of your questions and Cycle One
welcomes the opportunity to earn your business.
Sincerely,
Kate

www.cycleonemanufacturing.com

So it looks like they might be $50 MORE than Carpy. (I'll wait to see their response to the picture
I sent showing what I'm looking for, just to be sure)
I also sent an email to Carpy asking for specs on his swing arm. (HOW much wider is it? What size tire and rim will fit?) Waiting to hear back on that too.

Still looking for the titled frame for cafe project! This is fun. :)

She might have thought, you were wanting a huge rear chopper tire job. They had put pictures of their prototype cafe/sport/streetfighter swingarm on another forum to get responses, and everyone loved it. I wish I had saved a picture of it. I would love to have one myself to use on my Buffet Racer "Death Grip"

Well, I said in the email I was hoping for at least a 1.5" to 2" wider wheel and rim, but would love to have room to go 3" wider. I'd like to get a somewhat modern size back there for my cafe.
My stocker tire is nearly 5" wide at the widest point of the sidewall, and doesn't look too bad really.

I know what you mean Mark. But it depends on your perspective. Sometimes Im real happt with the way my tire fits, but sometimes it looks unusually small. But it works good, and i cant see it going down the road,so i dont sweat it.

I think it may not look as bad once that really fat seat is replaced with a cafe rear tail. They're narrower so the tire seems bigger.

I am going to order hoses from this guy, he sells a lot of them on SOHC Forums...I need new hoses. Mine are cracked and the upper was mis-routed and has a serious kink in it at the M/C fitting. Cheap insurance to get new ones, and rebuild the brake system. :)

Know where I can get one? LOL
Seriously though, I'll buy a DOHC swing arm as a backup. I want to lower the front a bit too, so with the 2" longer swing from a DOHC, that would make it have a nice stance. Do you happen to know what length shocks would be needed for that swap?

The stock shocks work perfect. Lowers the bike a few inches also.

Re: My bike…1974

Cool, I was thinking 2" lower front and back for the cafe. Still want to find a second frame to do the cafe project. Local DMV refused to commit to answer in writing whether or not they had policies to cover getting a title for an untitled frame. They say "call and we'll look over the frame and inspect it." but don't say whether or not they could or would issue a title. So I guess when I buy a frame, I will only buy one with a title just to make sure there's no problems. Got an extra DOHC swing arm you want to sell?

Got home from work and found a Post Office "left notice" slip in the mailbox. Looks like I won't get my two big boxes of parts until Tuesday now. What really pissed me off is that they left notice. The boxes were sent delivery confirmation, which does not require a signature. I know, I work for the Post Office!

They should have left them, especially since the mailing label has my special delivery instructions right
on it…"in case of rain, leave on back porch. There is no gate, there are no dogs, angry honey badgers, or velociraptors."

(my lot is only 50' deep, so it's just a 35 foot walk from the mailbox)

Oh, well, I guess I'll start next weekend and go the car show this weekend.

I have always had delivery problems from the post office. Just filed a complaint on a mail carrier, for being rude, and not delivering our mail. When I lived in South Carolina it was hard telling if the carrier would be sober enough after his 3 hour lunch break to deliver the mail, and when he did, every magazine was torn.

Almost forgot to post pics of today's shipment! :)
Aren't they nice? They're only half the outer diameter of the stock rubber ones….that should keep the pressure up!
Sorry about the bad pics, these were taken with my little point and shoot which only records in JPG…no RAW.
