HAHA  Halfcaf, its not that someone means business...someone is cheap. The stock petcock for that suzuki tank hit #1 carb so...

I couldnt stand it any longer.I just took the bike for a ride sans seat, tail light and rear brakes.Man,did it feel good!Glad i did, found out my tach cable is leaking out of the valve cover. It's just an o-ring in there, right?Bike will not rev past 4,000,but i believe it is running very lean. One of my valve adjuster caps was leaking, fixed it and when i was double checking for leaks i noticed that the pipes were blowing flames when you rev it.I dont have the header clamped down to the spigots yet and was able to see it thru the slits.PO complained about not revving when he had it so im sure that is what it is.Plus,i was running as-is in the pic...no muffler.Im sure that didnt help the lean condition,Not as loud as you would expect to be straight pipes. The ride was unexpectedly smooth to be cruising on a gravel road sitting on the frame rails with no seat.Well, half gravel, half pavement.Went to my closest neighbors house, showed off, then came back. The whole trip was only 2 miles. My headlights suck, though.I think reaiming them will do the trick.Looked pretty low.Couldnt see very far ahead, but i lit the way pretty good for those ants crossing the road. What a rush. For a bike that is not even using half of its rpm range,it still wanted to slide me off the seat,er frame rails. You guys have no idea how great that lil 2 mile ride felt
Oh yeah, got my gauges back together. The appliques arent that bad to pull off.Time consuming, but very doable.

I just looked at my chain. It is way loose after just 2 miles of putting!!!No way that is normal is it?I had about 1/2" of play when i put it on,now there is over an inch.I didnt even think to check for it being loose, just looked over and and DANG! i was sagging way down.I hope this is not a sign of a junky chain

Thanks Piute..hehe   puddles

That's common, for a new chain. Just adjust it again. It will probably need adjusting a few more times before it seats in.

Another question. My clutch did not engage until the lever was almost all the way out.Yet,when it was cold it acted like it wanted to pull away with the lever all the way in.are the clutches cold nature or do i need to adjust something?

Re: Here is my FREE bike!

Piute
Yes ,you do need to be sure you have "free play" at your lever
Not sure of spec's but need at leased 1/2 inch measured from clutch lever ball center
that way you know your plates are fully let loose(tight)

Thanks for the info guys.It only tries to grab for the first minute or so,once warm it releases fine.I expected it to start engaging as soon as i started releasing the lever, but Pops looked at it and said it felt normal compared to his.I guess im just too particular sometimes. That is a good idea about a used discI'll remember that one for sure!
Checked on the chain. It dawned on me that i set it the first time with the bike on the center stand.I think that might be alot of it.That, and i didn't get the axle real tight, eitherReset everything, got it all good and tight and rode down the driveway and back, which is exactly 1 mile.Went from 1/2" slack to 3/4".Thats seems like its stretching awful fast.

Had to get a pic of the gold chain in here somehow.Broke out the english wheel and the plasma cutter and started in on the new tail piece.I intentionally did not roll as much slope into it as i initially wanted. Its easy to add roll than to remove it,but i think the slope is about right after all.Remember, this is just a very rough draft.I know its all lopsided.Still needs some finessing
