I just got my first motorcycle. Dont really know much about bikes but I plan to do some kind of mods on it just not sure off what mods. I work on cars and going to school for it. I've always loved dirtbikes so I wanted a street legal one.

   Welcome
1st street bike ,Great ,Nice clean bike ya have there(good pic's).
Mods are great ,Plenty of after market parts for those still on the shelves at dealers,I'd stay away from special mods till your used to dodging cars n trucks,They seem to think ya have a target on your back ,Have fun

Re: my "new" 81 cb750k

All I know about the body is the guy put a 900f body on it because the tank was very badly rusted.

Quick question I want to put a 4-into-1 exhaust on it and i keep reading that you neeed to rejet. How hard is it to remove the carbs to get to the jets? also what is this "carb sync" that I keep reading about. Does this need to be done when changing out the jets. Not really a person who wants to pay to take it somewhere. Plus no shops around are willing to do anything on something this old.

I'd really love for my bike to look Like this guys.

Carb syncing is when you get all four carbs reading the proper amount of vacuum thru them, and all of them synchronized at the same level of vacuum. It requires a set of carb sync gauges to do,and sounds worse than it really is. It's not a bad job at all that any one can handle no problem. Ebay usually has some good deals on carb sync kits. Usually around $60-80.

On the DOKC bikes, such as yours, the carbs can be kinda hard to tune if you stray far from stock. But it can be done with a little patience. There are plenty of guys here that can help you out with this for sure. Just going to a 4-1 should not require much tuning, unless you ditch the muffler. With the muffler/baffle in place you should be OK

That is just the bulb, not the whole headlight assy. Just making sure you noticed that, but you probably did. Since it is a 7'' bulb it will fit any 7'' headlight bucket, which yours should be.Doesn't hurt to measure to be sure. I have the factory 7'' light on my bike with a Sylvania bulb in it. i cant remeber the exact name of the bulb, but it is some sort of direct replacement for the H4 bulbs.VERY BRIGHT! I have no complaints with this bulb on brightness, except for the fast sometimes it reflect off the street signs so bright that it creates a glare on my visor.Like I said, very bright!

That tri-bar with the blue dot does look killer, though.

BTW,we sell those same tri-bars at the speed shop for $69.99/pair with halogen bulbs. Shipping is usually extra of course, but I could split a pair and sell a single for $45 shipped if you are interested.

We are in the middle of a power outage right now,but if you are interested you can call Wayne at Qwik Time Performance in Roanoke  Virginia at 540-206-2597. If that phone is not up yet just holler at me and i can set you up. The shop phones are dodgy right now,but we can place orders and ship items with no problems.  No pressure, just letting you know.

awesome anything to save me money. I really want to make this bike now that I just spent 5grand into my truck just on the suspension and axles. Being only 19, I don't want to spend a huge amount on the bike, I just want something reliable.

anyways, I tried to take the headlight out today and the front screw holding the trim on just keeps spinning.  Any ideas?

Wedge a butter knife is the slot between the bucket and the trim ring. Let the blade of the knife contact the threads of the screw. The threads of the screw should be able to push against the blade of the knife, letting it thread out. Or cuss. Sometimes that seems to work

I tried the cussing part while it was 100 degrees in a garage with no air. Ill have to try the butter knife thing on my next day off. Thanks.

Any one know if you can rejet the carbs without removing the entire carb. just by removing the bowl. is there enough space to get in there.

The screw on the front of the trim ring is the side to side adjustment. All you need to do is remove the two screws at 4:00, and 8:00 on the side of the ring. Then just bump it with your hand. It will pop out from the bottom first.
On the carbs. They will need to be removed to change the jets. But you should try the exhaust first. It might not need re-jetted.

Just drill them with a reverse drill bit. They might come out. If not the heads will come off, and, you can use pliers on what is left from the other side.

Give me a few weeks and I'll place an order. Need to pay a few bills.

What will the color of the light be with the headlight.

Of course. No rush at all.Just letting you know. We get them in all the time so it's no big deal.

The bulb shines just regular white. The blue dot doesn't really have an affect on the color of the light beam. It's just for looks really, once the head light is turned on you really can't see it. But they do look cool in a parking lot!
