Got a question for you. I just got done rebuilding my first carbs on my friends 79 cm400t. It was actually pretty simple. The PO put epoxy on the rubber boots between the carbs and engine. What are these rubbers called? I'd usually search but I have no time to. I'm always to busy.

No problem. What stang are you talking about anyways?

So I finally got around to taking the headlight off and the bulb will only worked on high beams. Sometimes it will turn on and other times not. And it will only come on if I push the bulb in the socket. and another question that probably sounds stupid but how do you get the bulb out of the socket.? I don't really want to just yank it out and brake something.

Thanks

Never mind. Got it right after I wrote it. The contacts on the plug had burnt plastic on them. I believe that the bulb terminal in to short to make a connection or something in the plug is no pushing down fully.

Also, what oil do these bikes take and a bulb that I can get for the time being that I can get at advanceauto. Kinda need to know pretty quick to use a coupon that expires today.

On another note, I'm trying to figure out what direction I should take this bike.. Any suggestions?

Ask 100 people and you'll get 100 different answers on the oil. But Shells Rotella T6 is hard to beat for the price. It is very strong oil and it is safe for use with the wet clutch.

If your bulb is like mine, than any H4 bulb should fit. But your best bet would be to tale it with tpu and match it up. Are there any numbers on it anywhere?

That mustang we were talking about is in a video on the mrqwik.com website. Tools likes that video cuz he thinks a Ford beat me that race :-)

Got an issue. I went and started the bike and it will turn over just fine but it will not fire. I sometime end up basically draining the battery in maybe 10 sec of turning the bike over. I end up hooking up the charger and starting it that way.  what could be the issue.?

If ten seconds of cranking killed your battery, then that explains why it didnt start right off.If the charge on the battery is that low it is hard for these bikes to start. They really rely on a well charged battery to run, especially start. Nothing to worry about, more than likely, but a battery tender will help avoid this in the future. Battery tenders and CB'S were made for each other

There are few different possibilities:

-weak/bad battery
-weak/bad charging system
-battery just needs charged
-dirty.corroded connections preventing battery from charging off the bikes charging system

My battery is not real good about holding a charge and if it sits for a week or so without being ridden or plugged into a battery tender it gets pretty weak, but once i start the bike and the charging system takes off it will last me all day with no problems. But my daily ride starts off with a 25 mile ride at highway speeds. Riding in town wont charge the battery as well.

Do you have a way to test your charging system? Put a volt meter on the terminals of the battery and see what the voltage reads, then start the bike, bring the revs up to about 3,000 and see what your voltage reads then. Your battery should read 12-13 volts not running. Running, the charging system should bring it up to around 13.5-14.2 volts. Possibly a little more or less.

Okay I checked the battery. The battery with the vehicle off is 11.96v and with it at 3500rpm it's at 14.65.

That seems like a really healthy charging system! Maybe your battery just needs a good long trickle charge. These batteries are so little, they just dont have much capacity to hold a charge for a long time. It sounds like a battery tender might be all you need. I use one I got from Harbor Freight years ago and it does great. I think they are under $20. Mine is probably close to 7 or 8 years old now,so they are not bad quality.
