OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!  I LOVE it!!! I kinda like it without the side covers myself, I just love "Too-bing" it gives it a bad ass look.

Not sure if it will work for you but ive got the top clamp w/ fuse block hole in it? I can toss that in the shiny box if you need it? It could use some paint but other than that its in great shape, plus its got a choke mount! I upgraded mine to a waterproof blade fuse box and mounted it under my tank but you could make one fit in the opening for the stock one with very little work? The little cover on the inside pops right out too, so theres a good bit of run to work with.

Thank you Slow. I'm not gonna get very far without handle bar clamps! Looking forward to another 'shiny box' Give me a bill.I owe you some scratch, man!

Tools-you like the side cover with the bare forks/s-arm.
Slow-says no side cover

Hmm.It's a tie

Piute, you and me are thinking on the same page! I was thinking oil tank in there ,too. But it would only hold a little over 1 qt. If I did my math right I can get right at 2 qts under the tank (really didnt want that weight that high) and with the right lines I can squeeze an extra 1/2 qt in the lines. I like your idea of storage right thereI do need something in there to act as a splash shield. That would work good for that. Is there any way to get a mold off of that area that could be used to make a fiberglass box? Maybe fill it with expanding spray foam? What is your professional opinion?

Yes that would work but would be to perfict of a fit and hard to get in after made,I would make one out of cardboard  that would be the inside diamitor of the box,NOW I'm guessing that you could make it larger by bringing the center(inside frame)down to the size to hold another qt. or more , Very easy after making 1st part just glue/tape 2"foam to make that part that will set between frame ,have a nice square bottom to weld in threaded spacers for hoses.

Plan ''B'' on that area,Piute. The battery will be in there now. A very small corner of it will show, but not bad at all. I just could not bring myself to mount that heavy battery that high in the chassis just for looks. Sometimes function has to beat out form.

Got my tail light today.LED with integrated signals. It is not very big,but it is stoopid bright. It hurt my eyes when I tested it and I saw spots for quite awhile. Tail, brake, turn and tag light/mount for $31 shipped.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-CUSTOM-MOTORCYCLE-LED-BRAKE-TAIL-LIGHT-WITH-TURN-SIGNALS-BLINKERS-INTEGRATED-/150839331336?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231eb98a08&vxp=mtr

The bracket is beefy and powder coated. Actually a pretty decent piece for the money,I think. I took advantage of the holes already in the bracket for mounting it.But...

...that just won't do.Way too cluttered

Plan B...

Much better! I know,it's crooked...the bolts are loose

And finally got all of the rear frame work done. Where to start next? Exhaust? Oil tank? Sleep?

WHAT!!?? I got that same taillight but its just red...i wish I wuldve seen the one with signals in it, thats awesome! I was surprised when I got mine and saw how nice of a piece it was for such little money, plus like you said theyre crazy bright!

One side note on the license plate bracket, you will have to drill new holes to mount your plate. Im guessing those holes are for a european plate?? But a few seconds with a drill fixes it no problem, other than that I have no cons on the taillight.

PS- Looking good man! I swear I havent forgot about you, Ive been setting things aside and will get this sent to you this week!

I'm in no rush at all bud.Take your time. Thank you SOOOOO much for the heads up on the tag bolt holes!!! I woulda been screwed cuz I was gonna blast it and call it ready for powder. You saved the day again!

Ok,I dont have Piute's 'puter skills so this is pretty rough. I wasn't real happy when I saw the bike all blacked out.To be honest, just going in the shop with it now sickens meI want this bike to have a classic type look to it. Not one that is all murder-blacked out. If you could imagine these colors as metallic this is what I am thinking...for now. I plan to stick with a silver engine.Tools beat me to the punch on the black...I cant compete with him...I'll never win Silver, dark green blocks with gold edging. I stole the billboards from the 'Cuda's. I like the look. And I'm thinking go with the wheels as is.Black with silver rims/spokes. I (poorly-FAIL!) attempted to draw a Honda wing on the side panel...you get the idea...maybe? Piute, brother,I do not know how you do it.Really.

That looks like a Honda wing that morphs into a thumbs up. Which would be kind of cool.

Oh,nothing.Sometimes you just need a change.I have enough black vehicles as it is. Besides, dark colors make things appear heavier, where as the same vehicle in a bright glossy color appears to weigh less.Sounds crazy but it works. It was precisely the reason I painted my drag car flat black. When you challenge someone to a grudge race and they see this big flat black heap"yeah,I'll run that"... they swear it weighs 2 tons...little do they knowBlacked out is cool.Just not what I'm wanting on this one.

Case in point:which of these cars do you think is heavier?Dont let the color fool you!

If, you are worried about having enough oil capacity, I think I know how to fix it. Make a spacer, for the oil pan. 3/4" to 1" aluminum, and a flow jet, and, you could add another qt to qt, and a half easy. 2", and, you would not need the external oil tank.
TOOLS
P.S. If, you need some material to make a tank, just let me know.

Could you inform the clueless on why there is a need for a larger oil capacity?

No problem. If, you could flow jet some oil pan spacers, you could sell a bunch of them. I know guys looking, for them.

Yep! Half-Caf,as far as added capacity,I still haven't measured what the stock oil tank hold exactly.I'm really just shooting for stock capacity.Added makes oil changes more pricey

And Tools, you're a saint...I dont care what Toolbabe says about youJust send me your bill.

Actually, let me mock the tank up out of cardboard first so I can know 100% that it will fit.

Hey Tools,I made a paper oil tank and I can fit a 3 1/8'' OD pipe ( should give me the right size for a 3'' ID) 16'' long and it will hold 62 oz. The stock tank measured in at 54 oz so I'm golden on this part

I broke out the hillbilly mill tonight The original axle for a ZX s-arm is 17mm. Rather than swap out to screwy bearings that would work with a stock ZX axle and chain adjusters,I decided to just convert the s-arm to 20mm. If you have ever replaced wheel bearings on the rear of one of these Cb's and saw that spacer tube you would understand why it is best to stay with the 20mm axle.

I took all of the material off of the bottom side of the swingarm. Two reasons:

1- If I screwed up big time I would have a reference for the repair
2- Leave the upper side that holds all the weight at full size

OK 3 reasons-Im lazy and it's easier to just trim one side vs.both

I sprayed some flat black on the ears and used the chain adjusters to scribe where I needed to trim.

Definitely not a CNC finish, but it'll do for this.

I shaved off material a little at a time until the axle would just barely fit. It actually is a tight enough fit that it is wedged in the s-arm right now,and you can see it is hanging in the slots, not sitting on the table. I love my hillbilly mill!

The young guys rename EVERYTHING they do which our generation already created from scratch and think they discovered it.

We made custom motorcycles that looked tough,  now they call them Bobbers,Brats,.
We made short track motorcycles and half mile bikes, now they call them "street fighters".
We made choppers they call them "long bikes".

I call it the Matrix syndrome.

They always do things in groups. Like two of them will build a motorcycle and then call it something something "custom works" First motorcycle they build.

In the movies they are always in a group investigating a crime, or investigating a science problem.
But always in a group.
They can never do anything on their own.

Now Miller welding has renamed all the functions on the welding machines so the younger men will not have to learn what the buttons were for. they just select aluminum and the machine makes the adjustments for them. Before we would select (AC) current for aluminum. Now it says on the machine "Aluminum or steel" instead of AC or DC.
On a Roadstar Adventure.

Choppers are up for grabs,Guys got back from war and had all these H.D's and were into speed so they chopped everything off to make lighter(drilled holes in everything)
