You are right,Pat. These tubes are 1.5'' o.d. I swelled the end of the tubes to make them slide over the spigots, but these tubes have alot more wall thickness than the paper thin stock pipes. I am pretty sure that these wont be soft enough to clamp down and seal properly. The way the exhaust is routed I can pull each side off as one assembly,so it wont really create an issue on maintenance. Thanks for keeping an eye on me,though.

Got the battery mounted tonight. I really didnt want it up high, but there wasnt much I could do about that. Hang out a bit,but the sidecover will hide it

Cant decide if I wanna run the pipes up and along the tail fairing or just up at an angle. What do ya'll think?
Gray in the second pic is a side cover idea.Undecided on that, too.

Nice job on the Batt. But cover one each side (same and something across underneath, 3pc.,2pc.,1pc,. can you get to batt. terminals from underneath, then 3pc..

Now these Muffs ,Not a fan of rain catcher, reminds me of a V.W. we had had to put a flapper on it. But is a Street fighter type your looking for,So would go with it.
The straight one is nice but looks complicated(3pc.cut parts) Would look cool one on each side.

Have these never used were covers for my side pipes on the Elc.(wont some ?)

Going to use some to cover air box,Go from there

Piute,I can get to the battery good from the bottom. Planning on side covers, one on each side, and another splash shield underneath. It'll just be a piece of thin, black, flexible plastic that will get a few bolts. Easy to form and will keep water from getting to the battery terminals and off the motor/carbs. The battery will just mount on those angles,no box around it. I've been looking at making some mufflers out of the Guzzi muffs I have. Even though the mufflers will run uphill towards the back the outlets are angled so that they will be flat to the ground. No need for tractor flaps

Those shields look too big for my pipes, but you did just give me a good idea. I think I'll put some heat shields on these pipes now Thanks for the idea.

Oh yeah,I knew what you meant. My mufflers are ovals so the round covers wouldn't fit right. Thanks, though. You should run those on the Elky! They would look good.

Truck
My vote is for pic #2.  Looks cool and better gas flow.  Bike is also looking awsome in general!

If you want an undertail exhaust, I have a yoshi rs-5 that would be "sick-nasty" (as the kids say) for your build.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll make sure you get a good deal

"As the kids say"? Lol. I'd love to but my tail ended up being real narrow and I ran out of room. Aaaaaand,I'm getting kinda tapped out at this point

I'd rather see it go up and along the tail fairing, would definately put a heat shield along the pipes under the seat to keep from frying your ass, lol, and maybe paint those pipes to match the frame so they blend in to the frame better.

Had an idea too, what if you covered the pipes up and only left the mufflers and tips show? like put covers over the pipes that go along the back side of the frame that attach to the frame and make it look like the pipes dissapear and reapear. would make that big gap in the rear end look less cluttered and I think it would add more shape to the rear end.

Just a thought

Kinda like how the fenders cover the mufflers on a dirt bike? That would be pretty cool. Truck makes a good point about the up swept muffler being better for gas flow, too. I am planning on changing these pipes from how they are now. They look too cluttered with two pipes all the way back. I did them like they are to clear the kick stand, but I think I'm gonna try to collector them under the bike right before the kick stand, then run a piece of 2 1/2" from the collector all the way to the muffler. Should be cleaner looking and a little lighter.

Hellbilly ,something like this?

If your going to run a tight/closed muff ,....pipe size and bends aren't going to matter ,Ya-no open is(flow) OPEN ,then your getting into ,"Y" 4x(into)4,4x2,4x1,witch has been talk about alot,I wont some like you had on Water-buff to start and will after running great.Like that cover wonder how it handle's heet.

Yeah something like that, but you know any shape that you think looks good with the bike, looks like you have more of a jagged sharp straight line look going on the tail fairing, so I would continue that design into the cover, think that would look great and help clean up those pipes some, maybe even help keep dirt and stones off of you.

Are you gonna heat wrap those headers on this bike too?

And who is this lars guy you speak of?

Truck
Pic 1 would work if you cont. the angle you have the pipes at till you get under the seat then run the muffler parrallel to the seat

I'm tired of welding. This little tank has a total of 39 feet ( yes,not a typo) of filler rod and I'm not even done. These pictures suck but maybe they will explain where this tank is going. The notch is for chain clearance.
