Sorry to tell, you, but, you can't use a battery eliminator on the CB 750's. They have to have electricity, for the charging system to work. However if, you just want to go with kick start, get a small gel/AGM battery, and mount it in the starter cavity.

Tools is my hero.Thank you sir for the rear fairing/seat link.Still waiting to hear back from him.

Brainstorm finally kicked in. I like Hellbilly and Slow's suggestion of a solo bobber seat.I also like the Yamaha tracker style rear fairing. And since I couldn't decide whether to go bobber or street tracker from the beginning,I'll just do both. I'll make both seats/tail fairing and make it removable with quick connect wiring and everything. The best of both worlds and I can change them out depending on my mood that dayTwo bikes for the price of one.

HA! Minimus Prime! Hey,if it's gonna be a HaCkJoB,might as well do it as wrong as possibleMy only concern with a bobber seat is me sliding off and getting ''sensitive areas'' tangled upi n the rear tire. I have seen what it can do to a heavy gauge stainless steel taillight. I suppose a fender will be in order, too. Something close fitting, maybe swingarm mounted?Hmmm.....

Didn't realise the eliminator wouldn't work with the older 750's, my bad! Boy it would save space tho. As for the inner fender on the bobber seat you can form one and attach it right to the bottom of the seat so that it can be interchangable with the seat, that way you're not limited to a certain fender design for your other seat. Could always even put like a really cool sissy bar off the back of the bobber seat, will keep you from sliding off and give you something else to design your way

I couldn't even find a picture on google to try to explain to you want I mean, but I was thinking that the sissy bar would act like a back rest for the seat

I also picked up what I hope will be my exhaust system one of these days. I got four of the combo bends. I did a little service work on a buddies a/c a while back and he insisted that he pay me. This is what I asked for as payment

Ok,for the question of putting a SOHC wheel on DOHC forks. Here we go. Not much to it. Axle is the same diameter so it makes it super easy.Different model wheels may require different things, but for an early Comstar on an '81C front end:

Grind about 1.5mm off of the speedo drive housing where it meets the fork.

Make a 12mm long spacer to go along with the factory spacer already installed in the Comstar.

Double check the rim is centered. I have 17mm from the edge of each rotor to the inner face of each caliper mount. It's just that easy.

Random cool SOHC pic. No charging system,no brakes,NO REAR SETS,and a monster sprocket=

But you can't win them all

One good piston,one bad.

Also found this on my rear caliper. I never looked at when i took it off my '76. There is an easy-out snapped off in what is left of the bleeder.Nice

How does this work? The metal plate on the back of the pad does not go all the way around.Seems like it would cock the piston sideways

The clip ons now officially belong to Slownugly,so that $60 in no longer on this tab. New current tab is $250All these parts and I'm only $50 above the initial purchase price!

Awesome! Im kinda glad I didnt attempt the swap, not that it looks difficult, its just that where Im at right now as far as tools, space and pissy neighbors it wouldve made it difficult for me to do it. But hopefully by August thatll change and Ill be back in the mountains! WOOO HOOO!!!

Thanks for posting the swap though, I still want SOHC --> DOHC swappability so in the near future I plan on doing it but right now it aint happening. So this definitely helps.

Damn, good news with bad news....never fails!

"One good piston,one bad."

Check out that powersports plus site, I ordered a set of pistons for my rear caliper, they were honda parts and worked great. Fairly cheap too!

"How does this work? The metal plate on the back of the pad does not go all the way around.Seems like it would cock the piston sideways
"

It would make sense that the lip at least covered the piston area...right?? I know the pads loosely ride on the pins so I would think that it would cause the piston to push the pad crooked too. Blast! Honda engineering you stump me once again!

"Also found this on my rear caliper. I never looked at when i took it off my '76. There is an easy-out snapped off in what is left of the bleeder.Nice
"

All I can say is............AW POOP!

"The clip ons now officially belong to Slownugly..."

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Fingers crossed I can make them fit. I think with a big enough hammer, three gas station hot dogs....with cheese, a couple beers, a little bit bigger hammer, a thigh master and some vaseline I can make those suckers fit!? That is unless I actually do have 35mm forks and they just slide right on???? Could it be that easy? We shall see...thanks again bud!

Take a nut, and set it over the bleeder. Then weld it to the EZ out/bleeder through the hole. Then take a wrench, and screw it out.

HAHA! Slow, you crack me up. But I dont wanna know about your adventures with vaseline and hammers....you doing it wrong, bud

Tools,I tried you trick. That usually works but the cheap metal the easy-out was made of rejected weld. Instead I got super lucky and drilled it out with my plasma cutter. While it was still warm it screwed right out

Ran into a snag on the rear master cylinder. The snap ring that holds the piston in was so rotten the loops had rusted off.I got lucky and drilled the body beside it and was able to pry it out. The dust boot will still cover it so no issues there

On a good note, both pistons in the rear caliper were pristine! This thing was actually in great shape and could have been used as-is. But it all has to come apart for powder coating eventually

My XR seat came in today.Much narrower than I expected. I dont know which tank I like better with it,or if I like either one. Pics and y'all can decide

If you noticed the gaitors those are a gift from Slow'I was able to get everything mocked up and measure the new wheelbase finally. It is 62 1/2'' inches. 4 1/2'' longer then WB. I hope it ends up with the stretched look I am shooting for. It seems like the back tire will sit about where i want it. And the drop tube fork from Tools look killer! Everything seems to be on track with the parts you guys are hooking me up with.Tools even hooked me up with the guy who had the XR seat. Thanks guys!

And the best for last! I was talking with Slow' the other day and he said he would send me some dust seals for these forks-free!I was surprised to see such a big box show up.Now I know why he needed the box.He hooked me up with mirrors, gaitors, and sweet little throttle that i will definitely be using on this bike. The dust seals were there AND he even tossed in the bracket off his bike that I am pretty sure he mad himself.Too cool! Handmade,one-off parts for free! You rock Slow'! And that bracket will sure enough be on this bike, too. Thanks a ton guys! I might just pull this off after all.

The tab was                  $250

SWAG from Slow'           $0      -thanks
XR seat                        $120  - I'm sure i overpaid.How can i complain with all these freebies.though?

I was thinking the tanks you have ribs are to wide in comparison to the seat cowl,
TOOL's tank seems more narrow,But a few dents could narrow the others,
Color and paint design makes all things seem differently then they are.

Trade for.....???? I still havent talked to Pops about his old Road Star tank. Glad you reminded me.I'm guessing that is the trade you are hinting atTools, how wide is that tank across the back? I wonder if that 'glass tank is much lighter than a steel one? Does it fit on stock CB tank mounts?

I was thinking of maybe a filler panel on each side to make up the difference. I really like the Yamaha tank. I like the filler lid and how the bottom of it swoops around. But I'm not in love with it. I'm always willing to change. The frame is too wide to hold the xr seat.It will have to be narrowed where the backbone and the upper tubes of the cradles meet in that big ugly plate. I might just ditch all of that and really clean the frame up anyway. After i do that I will be able to run any type tank at all. I can fit all of my electrics in the xr tail, but i cant find anywhere to hide the oil tank. I wonder how much oil is needed in the tank...or how much I can store in the swingarm???

Piute, you are right about the colors. I think the biggest reason the silver tank looks so much better is it is basically the same color as the tail so it seems to match.Btw,I got a little present from you yesterday as well. Thanks you sir! And I look good in it,too.
