You are right. There are other mistakes in the Clymer Manual.
I have never seen a manual that did not have mistakes.

I know from rewiring my buddies K-3, I will never try to do another to stock. He insisted on having the headlight on/off switch (not needed), and that was really hard to find, and expensive.
If, you feel comfortable removing the starter safety unit, go, for it.

I agree.  I read somewhere that the author of a book will put in a typo or some other mistake on purpose.  That way, when/if the work shows up as someone else's book, the original author will look for that typo, and use it as a means to go after the second guy.

It is entirely possible that the original author of a shop manual may have just missed something, or just flat out got it wrong.  The FSM on our site is pretty good, though.

You are correct. Music books are the same. They will often write the incorrect words to a song for that reason also. They just assume you know the correct words.

I was looking on Ebay for that switch and noticed at least two scammers asking $100 dollars for the switch but it is the wrong one.

One was polished for $100 no wires (none) no photo of the inside. It did show the cut off wires.LOL
One was the wrong switch  it had the wrong wires for that year and no light switch. $100.

What I like about the 1975 switch is that the headlight function is kept separate from the start switch,
so it does not have the problems all of the Honda VFR switches have. They all melted from the heavy load.

I know what, you mean. I bypassed that on the Toolmatic. The headlight kept going out at the most inopportune times. Chased it, for all most a whole summer until I found it.
This guy here is parting out a 73 CB 750. http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/1975-cb-750-seat-td3517359.html Check with him. He's a friend of mine, but he lives clear on the other side of Kansas City, or I would go check it out.

More build photos.
Randakk grips.
Super bike bars from Cycle Exchange.
Headlight from Cycle Exchange.

Got that coil clamp in place-the right one.

The rebuilt front master would not work. I took it off twice and finally found that the
kit I bought was not the correct parts for a 1978.
Sometimes a superseded part will be sent to you, and is incorrect.
I am waiting for the right kit to arrive. a 1978, not a 1975 and earlier.

OEM new horn installed. Simple. A good place for it.

Spark plug wires trimmed to length. Dynatech coils, wires, and ignition.

Hey Donald May I ask how, you went about shipping your engine, and how much it weighed? I might be shipping an engine, and am wanting to get an idea of cost.

I built a special box for the engine and shipped it Yellow/Roadway freight.

You can see the base sitting on top of the lid of the box.
It was glued and screwed. To be strong and make a round trip.
It cost about $240 from California to Wisconsin.
It cost about $253 from Wisconsin to California.

If anyone in northern California wants the box to ship a CB750 engine it is FREE.
All you have to do is come and get the box. You will save about $50 and a lot of work.
I will keep it just another month or so then discard it.
Photo with the engine in the box below.

Oh yes, the weight was 250 lbs. with electric starter.

Thanks. That shipping crate is nice. You did some nice work there. Did, you do the coves in the 2 X 4 on a table saw? I have replicated coves in trim by making passes at an angle to the blade on a table saw.
