Awesome man! The bike really does look great. 4 hours is a good long ride,i am happy you were able to get it in before it gets too cold.Im sure you can still squeeze some riding in before it sits in.Also, its nice to see you have your priorities right First things first.

Depending what happens while the snow is down, chances are pretty good that it will look a lot different come spring

My shoes even have some badges of honor from the ride Check out the spots from the clutch cover and the shift lever:

Found out last night that the reserve feature on my tank definitely doesn't work. Luckily I was already in the parking lot where I was going and just coasted into an empty space. Pushed my bike to the closest gas station which was only 4 blocks away (still enough to make your wrist pretty tired though...)
Not too worried about this because a new gas tank is a part of my plans for this winter. Here's a brief overview of my ideas:
-Clean, tune, and sync carbs
-New gas tank
-Custom 2-seater cafe seat (will make a build thread)
-Make my own led tail lights with built in modulator
-Make another modulator for the headlight
-Design an easily removable rack system
-Get some sort of side covers
-Custom paint!
As you can tell, I've got big plans

Used to work in auto parts….K&N makes a very nice 1/4 inch clear filter with bronze element and a slightly larger diameter element with a stainless steel screen. Both are very clear plastic making them look almost like a glass element, and they look very nice, I think.

I think I may have already picked up a filter very similar to one of those. I plan on throwing it on when I get back to wrenching away soon. Attached a pic for ya.

So, its been a rough past couple days as far as the bike goes. A couple nights ago, I was leaving work and headed to a friend's house. It had rained a bit outside so the roads were wet and very slippery.
Well, long story short, I ended up taking a spill (high side) when the car in front of me slammed on their brakes. When I got the bike back up and pushed off to the side, It wouldn't start back up (dead battery).
I was able to get a jump and "limped home" in the bike lane in 1st gear.
Charged the bike overnight and went to ride it today and couldn't get it to start. Maybe its related to the fact that it was in the mid-30's this morning. I only heard one cylinder even try to start (a low "blub" noise) when I held the throttle 1/4 open. Tried to start it until I could tell the battery was getting low. Ended up walking to work today and the bike is back on the charger.
Maybe it's time to throw it in the garage for the winter

That looks exactly like the K&N, they do look much nicer than those semi-translucent plastic ones.

Halfcalf sorry to hear ya went down, but it sounds like your ok. I layed down my shadow last year in the rain and did the same as you (limped it back home) I had a huge bruise on my leg but that wasn't as bad as how embarrassed I was!

Oh man,I dont want to hear that. I hate that happened, but im happy you didnt get hurt.

Yeah, I think my backpack actually broke my fall and I was maybe going 15 mph, so it wasn't bad at all...
I'm just frustrated that I'm having more issues with the bike and hoping that none of them were due to my spill.
I am pretty sure that I'll have to be putting 'er away soon. Hopefully on a better note than this...

Thanks, guys.
Just got it started and rode it around the block. Stopped it to chat with a friend and when I turned it back on the main fuse blew. Got another pack and it just blew one after another... I checked all the connections in between and they all seemed to be good. Opened up the fuse box by the handlebars and everything in there was fine, too.
Bike is definitely not cooperating
|
|
Bought a 25-pack of fuses last night and a new set of bulbs (under the suspicion that a burnt tail bulb was blowing the main fuse)
Put the new bulbs in and popped in anew fuse only to have it blow when I pressed the start button. Put in a new fuse with the intention of just checking to see if all my lights were on and it blew the fuse as soon as I switched the key to the "on" position.
At this point all I want to do is be able to ride it across town to my buddy's garage where it will be for the winter.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?

You obviously have a dead short. A blown bulb will not cause this. You need to start tracing wires.

Bad news... I guess I will take off the stator cover and make sure things are good there (bike fell on the right side). Then look behind the headlight and around the battery.
