You can see where the two pieces meet, but they will need to be welded. I am going to do all my mock up then take it apart, and finish welding it. I could shorten the springs, but I want all the travel I can get. Also I want to use gators, and do not want them all scrunched up.

Oh yea! I gave my stepson one when He was deployed to Iraq the first time. That Enfield is known as "The Hogslayer" When I found it in a pawn shop years ago it had already been messed up by a previous owner, so I did not mind modifying it. I cut it down to 16 1/4 inch, and added the BSA red dot scope. I used to hog hunt with it in South Carolina, and always carried it in the Toolhauler.
How is that project of yours coming along?

I was so tempted to get the harbor freight lift table because they've got it on sale $200 off so it's $299 through 2/25/12….but this looks much cheaper. I think I'll build a workbench and this bike bench. I'm going to modify your plan and use slightly shorter legs, 4x4 posts, and HD locking casters on the bottom so I can move it out of the way when I'm not working on it. They have some really nice casters with strong locks at Harbor Freight, so I think this may work good. If it turns out the locks aren't strong enough and the bench still moves when really wrenching on it, even with all the bikes weight, then I'll just cut some longer legs and do away with the wheels. I like the idea of being able to move it to the center of the narrow room when I'm working on it, then pushing it to the side when I'm done. Makes the space more useful. If it works. :)

I really should be doing more home renovation, but hey, I wanna ride!

I was thinking of cutting off the legs, and putting a 2X4 across the bottom with locking casters. However I can slide it across the concrete floor really easy. Also I have never liked using 4X4's for legs. Just don't work well, for some reason. The 2X4's with two carriage bolts work perfect.
As, for the HF bike lift. It's the best $300.00 I ever spent. I will put a bike on it just to check the air in the tires. When I am not using it I can tip it on it's side, and lean it against the wall.

I'm just dying to get it, especially since the sale is going on for 6 more paychecks! LOL I prefer 2x4 bench legs too, but putting casters on 4x4's is sooooo easy….

We had this one complete 383 cu. in. small block chevy in the shop one time for sale.An iron head motor.A guy came in and showed alot of interest in it.We told him the price was $4500 ."If i can put it in da bed of mah truck all by mahself will you take $3500?".Wayne looked at me and i told him it was his to sell, not mine.Wayne told him he'd like to see that. This dude was in his 50's at least, about 5' 4"-5'6" and no more than 140-150 lbs soaking wet."I'll get the motah if you pull da pin for me".He snatched it up,i pulled the pin and he walked to the door(about 15-16 feet),turned, pushed the door open with his back, backed thru the door, turned again and walked another 30 feet or so and set it ever so carefully in a tire waiting on the tailgate.I thought Wayne was gonna be sick.I thought I was gonna pee myself laughing. It was an interesting thing to see!

I'm kind of at a stand still until next month. Been busy with some other projects. Been helping one of the daughters do some remodeling on her house. I am having a custom hand tooled leather seat made.

I was in the toolshop playing around today, and thought I would get some opinions on a tank. I had wanted to use the Mustang tank, but I am not, so sure about it. I tried a few different ones. What do, you think?

First up is the Zundapp tank Shiny hooked me up with. I am really digging it.

Next is a Kawasaki LTD tank that Vintagerider, and Toolbabe like.

And, for fun. A stock tank which I am kind of liking. Not only does it hold 5 gallons of gas, it also has a fuel gauge. I am also thinking it gives it a brawny look.

I really like the look of all 3 of them. I didn't realize that Zundapp tank was so small. If I had to choose,I actually like the lines of the stock tank. Brawny is a good word for it. Frame looks nice man!

Honestly when I first saw the tank you had on it to begin with I really like that tank, it's shape is just so beastly and not all curves, it has some brawn to it.

I like the first one you posted earlier, and the last one you just posted. The first and second in the post above, not so much.

Personally, a bike that large needs a larger tank.
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?
