This post was updated on .
The seat needs the 3 inch springs.
The 2 in springs are too soft.

I might have to change the whole seat idea.

Agreed. That seat takes the eyes away too much from such and awesome bike!!!
The whole thing is just breath-taking now with the full view.

I love everything about this bike, except the seat. It's way too big. Looks like you attached a Lazy-boy recliner on to the bike.

You can have a pancake pan & raise the seat with foam as high as you wont ,
meaning pan size doesn't matter much.

Plan to mod this seat my bike came with(mainly need pan for fit)

Will be solo with adaptable trunk for  back support

It had gotten burried under x-mas stuff,Thought it got stolen or trashed

Its a tough call on that seat dude. Personally, I think it looks much better now,but I can understand you wanting the high back. I know there have been several times I'd have slid off the back of mine if not for the seat hump. Tough call for sure, but nice work man.

NO,don't have machine ,but have friends wifes or girls that do ,I use the old cover for a pattern,
I cut it out ,show them how to pin & sew together, very easy,
I bought a tan leather coat & vest (18.00$ e-bay)just to cut up and make a seat cover.

For now I will go with the cut down version of the tractor seat.

The two inch springs did not work because they were too soft.
Not stiff enough. So I went back to the 3 inch springs.

That seat going to fill like your sitting on a tractor,

All this time I never could put my finger on what seemed off with the seat. I don't think its so Mich the size or shape of the seat, its the placement on the frame. If you could sit it back some and down in the notch that would look better. IMO.  Of course, ya gotta reach the bars tho lol

Lowering the height of the seat will make the mid controls and foot pegs useless.
I would have to have forward controls and my feet would be outside of the wide engine cases.

How about a skert on the seat (fill space / lower look)
At least till ya make some forward controls,
I'm sure you will get once you ride this.

You're exactly right man. I had to put forwards on the chopper ( 34'' inseam) and they are kinda uncomfortable . Its like straddling a 55 gallon drum going down the highway They feel great in town, but at highway speeds, with your feet so wide spread, the wind tries to pull your legs open, you resist it with your thighs then your legs get tired.Fast. I sound like a wimp,I know, but it's how it works. Mid's are probably best like you say

Here's one for a good laugh. Me trying to use the stock pegs on the chop.  I gotta admit that I love this low seat height, though. It puts my body weight (220lbs) alot lower and really help with center of gravity. Even with the square tire on the back of this thing ( not the bobo tire in the pic) I drag pipes everywhere! Man,I love this bike.Need taller bars tho...

Very good post Shiny Ribs.

Good photo of the seating position with fixed seat.
I really like that bike of yours too.
I am also about your same height and weight. Very close.

A spring seat is way more comfortable than a fixed foam seat.
I have literally spent hundreds of dollars trying to make a fixed foam seat that would
work and be easy on my spine. Once I went to a spring seat I could never turn back.

To me the seat, (any seat) needs to be almost level to be comfortable.

I am also finding out that when the gas tank is high in front of you it gives a real feeling of security.
A high headlight also deflects the wind.
The lower you sit the safer it feels.

The older motorcycles were like mechanical horses. You sit up on top of the horse(bike).
I like it when you sit down in it.
