That flag gets me everytime! Yes,that was definitely an easy build. A simple tank swap and a junk sign turned into a seat...and somehow it got like 40 pages

I got my axle made today Eric at the bike shop hooked me up with a machinist I didn't know about. He rides and builds bikes. He had the metal I need, but refused to take any money for it. He asked what I was doing with it and after I told him he said if it's for a bike build,it's no charge I tried and tried to pay the man. He eventually took $5. I still have to sort out the bearing spacers and then I can start measuring for rotors. I bet they're gonna cost me.

I turned out two adapters for the stock axle. I can keep stock bearings and seals this way(vs a custom axle). Plus I can use a stock speedo drive if I decide to use a cable driven speedo. The stock axle and axle nut just press into the adapters. I'll give then a little tack weld to make sure they don't shift around. This was way easier than I thought it was gonna be. I'm a happy boy right now!I can't wait to sit this bike on the ground!

Current tab             $709

Bike is looking great! I'd keep those side cover wings, love the swoopy look of them. Maybe paint them the same as the tank and seat to tie it all together.
But GAWD! I hate coming late to a party and trying to figure out what's going on...
Sounds like the ZX guys were no help but then you got the dimensions you needed off streetfighter.
Glad it all worked out for you. Theres a good bunch of us over on DoTheTon.com if you ever want to check it out. Centered around Cafe' stuff but caters to Bobs, chops, trackers, and streetfighters too.
... and congrats on the machinist find, anyone who will toss in free labor to someone going through a bike build is top notch. Hard to find those sorts of fellows these days.
Me? I work for beer.

Poo.        Is it really that hard to screw a spark plug in before storing an engine? Nice lil fingernail catcher at the yellow arrow. Other three bores are pristine.

Nah,I better not. haha. I also just found two bad wrist pins, but the little end of the rod seems to be OK. I tore the head down and the valves, guides and seats are just fine. Two valve stems had what looked like grip marks from pliers that would not let them leave the guides. I dressed them with a file and they slid right out. I think they'll be just fine. I'm hoping this will hone out within spec. As much as I'd love to 836, or even 936,this bike I just don't have the budget for it. I'm still moving ahead with finishing the bike. I do have a strong running 76F I could always rob an engine out of

Yeah,I hope it'll be sweet, but I know it'll be slow. Next thing I'm gonna do is get rotors fabbed up on this thing and get  her on her own two feet. Then I'll start in on the engine. Probably be a few months before I even start really doing anything with the engine.

Not a hint of snow here. I've been working in the shop with just a hoodie and havent had to turn the heat on yet. All this week was in the high 50's,low 60's.

Yep! The Water Buff is fine( clutch only slips over 100) and the chop will be back in action soon!

Hey Shiny, good looking bike! Seems we heve the same thing in mind! or the same crazy idea! More pics to come.
Had a question about your tank fitting but then i noticed you removed the "ribs" on you bike. so i was wondering if you did any other bracing for your back bone? Im using the same tank as you but i had to cut 1/4" out of sides of tank by pet cocks to fit around ribs on bike. Only problem is now my petcocks dont fit real good any more. Thanks, Dirty
No reason a CB 750 cant be your first bike at 15 years old!!

Hey Dirty, thanks for the compliment man! You definitely gotta start a build thread for your bike!

These tanks are pretty slim. I think the reason mine is fitting is because alot of my side cradles are gone with how I did the frame. The whole area where the sheet metal splice connects the backbone and upper cradles is probably where yours are hitting. I tossed that on this bike.

What s-arm are you using? Looks good man! Start a thread! Please!

my s-arm is off a 96 yam YZF 650. It fit good just had remove the grease/ dust caps off s-arm to get it to fit in frame. I am using the front and rear off the YZF including the wheels.

Good deal on that s arm!  You probably know this, but with not using the grease caps, make sure the center sleeve is getting pinched like its supposed to. Sometimes the grease cap is responsible for that so you wanna take a peak
