Re: CB 750 F DOHC.

This was the kit by Honda.  Came with everything needed for the job, except one O ring needed if completely disassembling the Master Cyl.

According to my shop manual, if I were to remove the side nipple, where the reservoir to Master Cyl hose hooks up to, remove it by removing 2 small phillips screws, then an O ring inside would need replacing.

I did not remove that part, because I did not have that O ring. But tghere was no leak from the mating surfaces (nipple to body pf Master Cyl) so I guess no harm was made.

Let me see if I still have the sketch. Unless that nipple mating surface is leaking, no need to disassemble and disturb this part. Originally I wanted to take it off, so I could repaint the Master Cyl, could not do it. I re touched it , next time I will do a more thorough job.

Look at #21.

This is the kit in question, excellent OEM parts.  Again, surprised it did not bring O ring # 21.

On location at Marina Honda (although it's official name is Santa Monica Honda, dealer located in Marina, Santa Monica is about 6 miles north.....tell it to the judge !)

Wait a minute !

Just looking at this photo, my kit did not have the piston rod, all on the photo except the piston rod.  I. ust have taken this photo from the net. Let me inspect this issue. Lets compare the number on this photo (part number) to the actual kit I got ( from Honda itself...did I get ripped off ?)

I ended up using old rod, which was ok, but not perfect.

*) 43510-392-305 (part # on this photo)

*) 43520-461-771 (part # I purchased)

Caveat enptor ! I guess now we know which kit part number to go after !

This is what I got for 43510-392-305. Apparently this one is a SOHC kit.

Re: CB 750 F DOHC.

Seems like the kit with the piston rod / push rod is a SOHC kit.

But my bag was opened, perhaps at dealer the rod was taken put.

Interesting, why some kits come with push rods and some others do not.

Went by the dealer to pick up my tachometer seals. Asked about the push-piston rod and master culinder rebuild kits.

He searched and indeed no piston rod included. He told me many times kits show items in photos that are not included in kit, yet are part of the job.

That is ok. My piston rod was fine anyways. a little discolored, but in good shape.

Took bike for a ride.

Did not bleed rear brakes yet. Want to change that old reservoir to master hose right before.

There is nothing at any auto store in that regard I guess. Fuel, heater, water, those hoses would not work with brake fluid.

Tomorrow I will go by a friend's shop. He makes hoses and will make that piece for my bike, then I will immediately bleed brakes.

Bike worked fine. Tach cable leak taken care of.

Just getting used to thiese CR Keihins. At one moment tried to make sure if I ever de activated choke.  Actually choke was already brought back to normal, so accidentally pushed lever downwards,  and bike died out.

Short after it re started. But it was not the same. Hope I did not mess up. Learning to live with CRs.

Came back home. Will check it out tomorrow.  Not bad, but it seemed not to hold idle well. Hope it just got a cough from that lever push.

Everything is fine. Perhaps overloaded the plugs.

Just came back from a second mini ride to assess.

 Everything cool !

Got new spark plugs for the bike.

 NGK IRIDIUM IX PLATINUM. (BR8EIX)

These were suggested by a fellow CR enthusiast.

 Will try them out.

These probably come pre gaƱped or are universal. The probe is tiny, needle like, impossible to try gap it.

I've heard people say it's best not to touch those plug gaps and just run them as-is.

I have been so tempted to try those. Everyone that runs them seems to love them, but I tried a set in my '76 and it didn't like them at all. Pretty sure I'm the only person with a bad result with iridiums.
