 Sent it back.

Took my chances  but purchasing a helmet online is like purchasing shoes or clothing same way.

I never do, tried my luck after reading the helmet site's measuring technique ( to measure size of head )

Did not work, helmet way too small.  Do not want to try a larger size only to find out a second time it still does not fit.

Will get a refund and will do it the efficient way, go try a helmet at a bike accessories shop.

Bought a Super Trapp Muffler for my bike (from E Bay . $160.00 Not too bad.Brand new)

My muffler (which was a Suzuki 600) proved too restrictive to my CR Keihins.

Kept running too rich. Very difficult to tune.

Too much backpressure, way too restrictive.

On the works, soon will have it on. Only thing got to weld some bracket to hold the muffler, it has no bracket from factory.

Well. Seems like this site has gone south.

It is dead !  Very sad. It had lots of potential, but so far, no participation in months.

OMG… these are pretty cool. I wish I could own one such bike. This is my dream since so long but I never could accumulate so much money that I can spend on my wish list.

We're alive and well! Just summer time. Some folks are out riding. Others, their workload increases this time of year like most jobs do.

How's the Supertrapp working out for you?

Good to know you are not dead.

Thanks to that troll that posted my thred attracted some attention !

Not installed it yet..  Found a stripped thread in my valve cover, which is causing a leak.

Apparently previous owner or some guy that fixed the bike at some point installed a heli coil that failed.

My bike had no heli coils, I have it since 04.

Got to deal with it. Will fix that before the SuperTrapp.  If I ride the bike hard, the valve cover leak gets bad.

Once leak repaired, Super Strapp goes in.

Indian head gasket shellac. It's horrible stuff to remove down the road, but nothing leaks past that stuff. I swear you could seal an oil pan with it, let it dry, remove the bolts and drive. Crazy good stuff.

Good luck. I hate leaks!

To quote an old-timer mechanic:

"If there ain't no oil ON them, there ain't no oil IN them."

So it's OK if my Avenger weeps a drop or two onto the garage floor.

Re: CB 750 F DOHC.

Hi guys.

  I know the Indian Glue..

It is great. I usually use both Indian glue and Gasinch  ( sorry if not spelling it right ). It is a small container as well. A mechanic taught me this trick yeRs ago, a good dealwr mechanic.

Use Indian glue on one side, and Gasinch on the other side (gaskets). Never had a single drop - leak ever.

But the ossue today leaks kind of bad. It is the very front most bolt on the valve cover, to the left.  Basically the bolt is loose, stripped, so it is free leaking unless I ride it very slowly.

Got to get the cam holder out, and get the threads repaired.

I was told "Time Sert" is superior to Heli coils.  But those sets are not cheap. I will have to get the cam holder out and take it to this guy that can fix it  with it and pay him.. Would love to have a Time Sert kit, but it is not cheap.

Helicoil is fine for that. Inserts are nice for some things, like say, a cylinder stud. Not really needed for a rocker cover.

BTW, I've helicoiled head bolts on big block Chevy's. 75 ftlbs on those. Then sprayed nitrous through them. LOL. Helis get a bad rep. They work.

 I hear you.

Will go to a friend's shop for the surgery.  Perhaps safest thing would be taking holder off bike. Got no power in my garage and since I live in a building gotta do it that way.  ( indignities of not living in a house 😁)

Re: CB 750 F DOHC.

Hi guys.

It has been a long time.   Busy at work and my bike 's charging system went bad.

That kept my bike inactive for a while.

It all begun with the headlamp turning on as usual upon turning the key to the on position

Then starting the bike.  That was the good old days ! lol

Then came the light on upon key in on position  but flickering or going out upon crancking up motor. But light would come on again upon starting up.

Then came the light out for ever situation.  It escalated.  Now the headlamp would not work at all.  Bike ran though and tail light did work.

Then came the dead motor, at the statrt it would run fine but upon warming up it would stall.

One day it went dead.

Battery was fine and headlamp bulb was fine.  Some issue I could not find.  And as said before , later on a total colapse.

Tried spare used handlebar switches I had but it made no difference in regard to headlamp.

So I bought a new rotor.  (Stator was new from last repair. ) and also bought online a new main wire harness and handlebar switches ( starter switch and the kill switch  signal lamps switch)

Bought a multi tester.  So I will test the new rotor, the "suposedly " bad rotor, the stator and a couple used spare rotors and stators I found in my stash jyc.

My battery will be r charged. It was new, a gel battery.  If it were not good anymore mught have to get another one, hopes not.

Also bought a Regulator Rectifier.  I have been told the rotor and the rectifier are what ussualy go bad.

I guess I should first install a good rotor and rectifier. (assuming my stator is fine). Later on once it statets, the new wire loom.

Bought a 35 W headlamp bulb new.  Been told this electrical systems are not that great and since we have a headlamp on all the time, I will save on power with the 34 W bulb.

So I will try the bulb on, change the rotor, rectifier,  ( no testing for the rectifier been told, so I will swap it right away)  and if lamp works then I could assume the soon to die rotor/rectifier issue was what was messing my headlamp.

If upon having a new rectifier and a new rotor I still have the headlamp issue, then I will proceed with the main wire harness, and switches, that should take care of any shorts that may be buggin the connections.

This is the state of affairs.

Hope to have it rolling soon .

Should I swap

New ( not OEM, I wish) rotor

Also adding a Headlamp Relay that I bought long ago.  It is great for headlamp life and protects the electrical system from the headlight  demands on wattage.

I have had problems with headlights like you are describing in the past. Most of the time it is the starter button. The headlight is wired through the starter button to turn off when the engine is cranked to allow the starter to have all the available amperage. I bypass the starter button to fix this problem, today's batteries are so much better then the batteries of 30 years ago that bypassing the headlight for starting is no longer needed to start the bike.

Re: CB 750 F DOHC.

Hi

Good to know !

I will swap the new switches and the rest of stuff (reg rect and rotor)

Will wait on the main wire harness   If everything works fine will keep the harness untill the time when I plan of getting the engine powder coated  I will then have to take the motor off the frame

At that time I will get the frame and swingarm powder coated as well and that would  be the perfect time to properly do it

Unless off course the lamp issue keeps bugging me after switches, reg rect and rotor move in

I would like to add a volt meter and amp meter to my bime That would allow monitoring of the charging system  As far as I know these issues do not happen all at once out of nowhere  The malfunction broods up slowly   An AMP gauge and VOLT gauge would allow the rider to know if the issue is building up before ending stranded, and will help determining if the issue is battery related or stator/rotor caused

What would be the proper way to connect these gauges ?
