Today I worked on the rear brake pedal mounting.

I modified the engine mount plate to accomodate the pivot sleeve for the brake pedal.

The brake pedal shaft was not going to come out of the frame
if I welded in the sleeve. No way to take it apart for cleaning or lubrication.
So I made a removable sleeve.

This is how it looks when assembled.
Had to drill and tap a hole for the hold down bolt.

This is the entire area assembled with foot peg.

I got the perfect size sleeve tubing for the brake pivot from
my hydraulic bottle jack handle!

Now you gotta build a handle for your jack Are you going to run stock location foot pegs only? I will say,I tried it on the chopper and it really causes you to have to contort your ankles to shift gears. Your foot peg-seat location might be much different from mine, though.

Hahahah ya now that jack handle will look very exotic!

Someone looking at the jack will say,
"Why would someone make such an exotic jack handle?"

You are right about that foot peg location.
If it does not work out, (and it is a little difficult to tell right now),
I will use that brake pivot sleeve for a
junction to a forward location of the brake lever rod.

The next project is the oil tank mounting and after that I will
be able to put the entire bike on the ground and then
the location of things can be re checked.

OK. I hope stock location works out for you.I actually prefer the stock peg location. I like to ride with my feet under me,rather than pointing out catching all kinds of wind. The forwards on the chopper can actually get tiring after a while. The longest I've rode nonstop has only been 40 miles on that bike. With your feet on forwards the wind wants to pull your legs open. After fighting to hold your legs closed at 60+mph,your thighs get pretty tired. Ya lose some,ya win some:)

I agree Shinyribs.
I have had two bikes with forward controls and it is hard on the back.
With your feet in a normal position like a stock CB750 I think you can ride longer.

Ok...Yesterday I installed the oil tank and welded in the  mounts for the oil tank.

Last night I took the bike off of the build table,no easy task.

I have the whole bike sitting on the ground for the first time!
It is very low. WOW.

Seat height is 25.5 inches from the ground.
From seat to pegs is about 18 inches.

I put the front forks on by myself. What a job with one person.
After I got them on and stood back and looked at it it looks good and the front of the bike is just a little higher than the back - perfect! That is with the stock front forks.
I have not measure the trail yet.

Then i need to remove the front forks again to weld the fork stops on.
Then put the front forks back on to see if it all lined up correctly.

FORK!!!

Photos of all of this including the gas tank tomorrow.
Today my wife has the camera.
Last nights dinner.....
Terriaki baked chicken and salad with home grown black krim
and beefsteak tomatoes, with mustard vinagrette.

That's just enough food to make me want to eat something.  It does look good though. Do I want to know what black krim is?

The black Krim tomato is an heirloom variety tomato and it is a little darker red that your regular beefsteak tomato and some dark greenish black star pattern on the top. It tastes great.
They grow very large too. This is y first one this year.
Third year growing tomatoes. I am learning a lot.
Next year I will be ready for my best year.

I made a modification to the seat to try to make the bike look more like the photoshop sketch.
This one:

I slimed down the seat about 1 inch on each side and made the side straighter.
I used flat bar instead of round bar. It will make it easier to upholster.

COMPARE

Now that looks a lot more like a Pizza slice!

Flat bar profile.
A lot of cutting and grinding.

On the bike.

I am going to raise the rear part of the seat 1 inch to get the seat to be level.

In the photoshop pic the tank looks too far from the neck. On your bike it looks just right. To be honest,I was kinda worried about that, but looks like you fixed it Round #2 of the seat looks better, too. I think the removal of the cod piece was a good call.LOL

Slooooow  doooown Luuuucky,at this pace you'll be done soon. Then you won't have anything to play with

Lots to do and redo Shinyribs.
And if I get the frame powder coated that can take several weeks.

Re: New build coming...Rover

I spent the entire day (till 4pm) just on getting the seat positioned correctly.
I moved it back 1 inch and I moved it up 2.5 inches so that the seat hinge is level.

I had to make some custom seat spring mount posts.
Lots of work in the hinge too.

On the stock bike you have to raise your foot up high to get it on the peg.
Now the foot pegs are in a more natural position and even more comfortable that the stock bike.
