Why not make a tail section out of an old sportster tank, and use it as an oil tank, and a butt warmer? Or Hide the oil tank under the tail? Another idea would be to hide it under the back bone, and set the gas tank over it.

My shox are heavily rusted.Took apart to try and clean them.Might just replace them, but on a tight budget, too.
I believe were all on a tight budget,But the price ya pay for the bike ?All the lil stuff ++++,If you can find the part.I"ve always went with odd years.I can get my money back as a whole rather then peace's,Reason I stay stock or save the part,My shock-ox that broke was 6yrs old but ran a heavy load ALOT.Broke at the rod(weld)to the mounting hole inside there was rust, but not on surface, but always kept clean,I'd make a strut for now, rather then use a ?able one.your going café,they ran hard az any how and will add to look, you seem to be a very good welder make some ,till spring,I'm not pushing to get mine done at all, just wont a couple of hard 300 mile runs in (1way)Just to check engine,?...Piute...BAGGER..l.o.l.

I got an old set of air shocks off my old 72 p'up.I was wondering how they would work.Figured if the bladder was strong enough to raise the front end of that old truck it oughta hold up 1/2 of a 500 lb bike.Could also vary the air pressure to dial in how you want it to ride.Just an idea....a free one I like free!!!

Solid rods replacing the shox?!?! Okay Piute,do you know why i drive an Impala instead of a sporty little Nova or Mustang? It's because im soft and i like a cushy ride I bet those things ARE hard on your posterior!! Not big on hard tails.Though i will do that if it keeps me from riding, but im a long way from that ,anyway. Easy to build. No need to buy something like that Thanks for the pic. When you were saying struts my brain was going automotive That looks like hardware for a young man!!!

You know, now that i think of it,i got an old set of drag racing shocks that are double adjustable.Compression and extension. For the front of a Duster.I bet i could use those, rig my springs on there and have ride adjustability.Hmmmm...
i couldn't handle a straight hardtail with out spring in seat and a pillow saddle, this is what I did to a broken one I pulled it open put two heavy rubber bushing in then welded back on(we friend did)then couple heavy dutie clamps over them, only help on hard bumps but save my spine, cause was stiff still. Was my Sporty hunting days,,,,Piute...

When my Pops was young he worked at a body shop.He was 14 years old and there was a 1965 Dodge coronet that a customer didn't want to pay to fix.He had let the tire chains come apart one winter and tore up both rear quarters.Dad got it cheap and fixed it at night at the shop after work.He had quit school(he never graduated high school)to help pay bills when his dad skipped out.Got the car looking good but wanted to run a big set of tires someone gave him.No money to shackle it up so he jacked the car up to where he wanted it and then put muffler clamps on the bottom of the shocks to hold it there!!!somehow he never broke a shock!!!I think that may have been the only hardtail Mopar in history he still has that car

Beat it in, and use JB Weld. The putty works best.
